Youth football in Holland

Possibly the most random post I’ve ever done on here but despite my frantic googling this morning I can’t find the answer so thought someone else might know.
My son has the chance to go on a football tour to Holland. He plays Elite level in an Under 12’s team and trains alongside an under 13 team. Apparently in Holland it’s grouped on year of birth, not age group. He is an older Under 12 with a November 2010 yet the Under 13’s are also 2010 birthdays if that’s makes sense at all. They are saying the Under 12 boys can’t go as they aren’t old enough yet they have the same year of birth as the Under 13 boys.

Does anyone happen to know if a 2010 born child would be playing 9 a side or 11 a side football in Holland?

The problem may be how many children in the team are born sept - Dec 2009. If there are more than 3 - very possible in a UK year team - the team has to play in the year above in EU.

This means your son would be very young in the tournament, as the UK team would be playing teams of boys mostly born in 2009, and they may have decided not to take them for that reason.

Ahh thank you…that makes complete sense. That is possibly why they have decided to split them like that then. The form that they are having to complete says 2010 born so we were totally confused why they weren’t allowed to go. It’s tough for them as half will go and half won’t and clearly mine is desperate to go. He is quite small for his age too (but fierce on the pitch) so maybe not such a good idea.
Really appreciate your reply…I was trying all Google combinations this morning and couldn’t find any information!!
