Urgent microwave question

PaintedNailsAndBraidedHair · 08/10/2022 10:24

Been using the microwave for a a few months. Went to clean it today, and notice I was able to lift a clear thick film on the inside of the door.
I'm getting conflicting information on the internet, and now wondering whether that should come off?

Should I stop using the microwave? Or was this something that should have been removed before using? (It wasn't obvious upon opening the microwave- I'm quite good at checking all packaging)

It’s probably film put on when it was made (to protect the glass). Peel it off and then carry non using the microwave

Thank you, I don't know why I assumed it was there as a safety barrier 😳

It must be the protective film, I'd just whip it off, pretend it never happened and carry on.

Hi, some years ago i used to repair microwaves and Sanyo produced such a machine and many people took the protective sheet off, its there instead of glass, its to stop food and dirt getting into the door grid, can be used without it but cover food when cooking,

Do you have the manual? It probably says in there if it's something important.

Thank you all, after my last comment I found out it is to stop food splatters! @Microman thank you! Definitely will make sure all food is covered
