looked online but can't find any clear information. What taxes are due and how/when are they payable.

Package booked through Thomas Cook (they still exist online after a takeover) and flying with BA.

Also, do you fill out visitor tax forms on the flight ready to be stamped on arrival?

Any advice much appreciated, TIA.

There is an environmental tax that you pay on arrival at your hotel and a visitax that you pay on departure. I think the hotel one was about £20 (it’s something like 20 pesos per night per room) and then the visitax is about £10 per person that you pay online. This is for Quintana Roo area.

we paid the one on arrival, but not the departure one - it’s not checked.

The strangest thing for us was ‘pressing the button’ on arrival. When you go through customs you line up to press a big button. If it stays green you go through, if it goes red they check all your bags. We went through, but the people in line before us had red and they checked every little thing. It was bizarre!

yes you fill in landing cards on the plane ready for arrival, but no cash.

Def take cash for tipping. We were surprised by how blatant it was and got caught out at first. Not just restaurants etc, but for any service. Even the person handing out baskets at the supermarket held their hand out.

It means they check random people.
I am not sure why that is bizarre.

Thanks @exLtEveDallas !

@marcopront well Duh 🙄
It was bizarre the theatrical way they chose to do it, rather than just going through.

no problem @FlutteryButterfly hope you have a great time. We bloody loved it Mexico and May well go back next year - feels like we’ve still got so much to see :)

Can you pay visitax before travel from UK?

Thanks again

You can, there’s an App, but honestly hardly anyone does, no-one checked.
