Can platinum jewellery be reworked?

Does anyone know if it's possible to rework platinum and have it made into something else? My wedding and engagements rings are a bit snug (to say the least!) these days and I was considering either having them resized or made into a new ring. I've looked online and some sites say it's not possible and others say it is so I'm confused!

I had my platinum engagement ring made larger when I moved it from my left hand to my slightly larger right hand

I took my rings into the jeweller today and I'm looking at £120 each for my engagement and wedding rings and they are getting me a quote for the eternity ring. DH told me it'd be cheaper to lose weight and I know he's right! It'll take a long while though and I don't want to be without my rings for too long.

It's just metal and can be melted down. You can have your stone (s) reset in platinum.

Of course. I had my Dads wedding ring melted down when he passed away and a jeweller helped me design 2 beautiful contemporary rings out of it and also a small necklace pendant.

I don't know where you live but Jacqueline Harold Designs in Leek Staffs is who dod mine. She is an utterly amazing lady!

If you're in Kent then Martin Wilde Jewellers in West Malling would be my go to. They've done a few jobs for me including resizing my wedding ring and my Mum's engagement ring so that I could wear it. They also remodelled my original engagement ring (I lost the central diamond from it) into a lovely pair of earrings. They are a lovely family firm and really helpful - no connection with them, I'm just a very happy customer!
