Royal Mail lost parcel

Any advice please?

Returned a handbag as it wasn't suitable. Used Royal Mail special delivery. Handbag was £130 and Royal Mail inside up to £150.

The handbag has been delivered and signed for, but the company I bought it from say they don't have it. The tracking info just shows a squiggle signature and the name is ISMAD which is the name of the company I bought it from.

The company are saying that as the parcel was delivered at 8:30 and they don't open until 9:00, it must have been delivered to the wrong place. It's a unit on an industrial estate, so I'm guessing it's gone to the wrong unit. I've asked the company to ask the neighbouring units whether they have it, but they've asked me to get more info from Royal Mail.

Is there any way of getting more detail from Royal Mail? Or do I just put a lost parcel claim in? Will they accept a claim if there is evidence of it being accepted?

I'm in a bit of a stew about it. I never spend this much money on things like handbags but I saved up as it looked like something I've been after for ages. I thought I was being fairly cautious with special delivery, but even that has gone wrong!

Have you googled reviews of this company?

Just wondering as I’ve heard of similar issues when people have returned expensive shoes somewhere and there were lots of reviews saying the same thing. It seems they were getting the goods back, keeping the money and then selling them again!

Royal Mail can tell where the item was scanned, the PDA's have gps traçkers that will show the location on a map. If you put in a complaint this should prompt them to ĺook at this information, if it has been delivered to the wrong unit, they will have to compensate you.

Go to your local delivery office they will tell you the GPS location of the tracking.

Brilliant, thank you. I'll try my local post office on Monday. I didn't know if it was something I had to ring 'head office' about, but didn't know where to start.

Thanks so much.

@anxiousatnight It's Royal Mail you need to go to not the Post Office.

If you go to the Royal Mail tracking website with your tracking number it will tell you what's happened and then what you can do next if you have a problem. It can be done online and you also then have everything in writing.

Thank you, I'll head to the Royal Mail section then.
