I have accidentally transferred £1K into a NatWest bank acc that is closing today and the bank are being dismissive?

Think I want reassurance rather than solutions. Panicking! I transferred 1k of DS1's student loan from our joint account onto what I thought was my NatWest credit card, as I had paid for his accomodation on it because Student Finance dragged their heels.

Went to check the transfer had completed and it didn't show so went back to our joint account and realised I had sent it to my previous current account that is closing today. It's not in there and they have charge me some closing fees. I rang NatWest and the woman was so blase saying the transfer will bounce back from the joint account. It hasn't though Hmm so I rang them again and they said give it 24 hours and ring them back. Anyone else been stupid enough to do this? No idea where the money is!

Don't panic, the money isn't lost and you'll get it back, but they won't be able to identify where it is until after the overnight reconciliation. It will either have landed in the 'closed' account just before the computer actually closed the account (so you'll get a message saying they can't close the account until it's got a zero balance), or the account will have been closed and won't exist so the money will bounce back to where it was sent.

@Speedweed thank you. Your kindness in replying and reassuring is amazing.
