I wasn't emotionally prepared for the Sleepytime episode of Bluey. What has unexpectedly made you cry recently?

I mean, I know I'm tired because the baby's sleep is all out of whack, but honestly.

Crying into my morning cup of tea over a cartoon dog trying to sleep in her own bed all night is just soppy. Early night for me tonight I think.

It's not just me, is it?

I was watching the 10 O'Clock news on the BBC last night and they were doing a piece on social care and there was this husband who is looking after his wife who has dementia (and I think Alzheimer's too) and they have been married over 40 years. He clearly loves his wife but her care is clearly taking a toll on him. He doesn't want to have to put her into a home and it would be very expensive to him (he quoted £1500 per week for her). He is exhausted looking after her and yet he wants to keep doing it because he loves her.

Their news story just broke my heart last night.

I was crying in the living room and my DD came in from the kitchen (as I thought I was quietly crying but clearly not) asking if I was ok.

That is what unexpectedly made me cry recently.

This was heartbreaking, .

@Thesearmsofmine yes I've seen that one with DS4 he got really upset about it as he felt it was so unfair to poor Sam. He was devastated 😢. Big Bluey fans here - Baby Race, Sleepytime, Grandad (the bit where Chilli is little again at the end 💔).

KeepingKeepingOn · 07/10/2022 13:18

We bought The Memory Tree when we lost DH’s grandad - oh my good God. The only book I’ve ever seen DH actually cry over. Sometimes now it gets pulled out as a bedtime story and both of us embark in desperate negotiation to choose anything else.

Poor old fox 🦊 😢

Baby Race had me in floods! I love Bluey!

This is the episode that got me. I was exactly like Chilly with my first. With my second I went with the flow. But this episode just took me right back.

Oh God that was brutal wasn't it..so so awful for him especially when asked if she had 1 last lucid moment what would he say to her. He answered 'I love you' and completely broke down.

Camping - that episode is so lovely. It's a great show. I think the Sleepy time won some award. It was great too.

RiftGibbon · 07/10/2022 14:00

I cried a bit at a concert I went to. It was the only UK performance on their farewell tour. They're not touring any more. I had never before managed to get to a gig and was overwhelmed by the experience and proximity of people I've admired for 30 or so years. Still feel a bit tearful thinking that I'll likely never see them play live again.

I'm menopausal so everything is eliciting over reactions.

FGSWhatNow · 07/10/2022 14:14

OMG I just watched the Sleepytime episode 😭

Me too. My DS was a bum shuffler and late walker and I really related to the mum's feelings. I cry every time I see that episode.

Timeforsinging81 · 07/10/2022 14:39

The recent episode of The Repair Shop where they restored a home made ride on train for a women and her daughter. It'd been made by the woman's late father for his children and now his young granddaughter was entranced by the train when it was finished. Actually a lot of the repair shop makes me teary, it's a lovely show.

MovinOnUp · 07/10/2022 14:42

DD was off sick today so we snuggled up to watch Paddington the movie.
I'd never seen it before and the wee bear getting shoved and ignored at the train station made me cry!

I'm a bit emotional today as DS2 is 6 months old today and it's gone so very fast that it's knocked me for six.

It's Rug Island for me. The ending - "What did she give you?" "Everything"

Yes! Glad I'm not the only one!!!
Going to have to watch sleepytime now!!

That episode worried rather than upset me - how old are Bluey and Bingo meant to be?

What could possibly worry you about it?

Dinneronmybfpillow · 07/10/2022 15:00

DH made me watch the Camping episode just to see if I'd cry... will watch Sleepytime on my own and get him back later.

Paper dolls gets me every time too, and for some reason the opening of Moana.

TheVanguardSix · 07/10/2022 15:00

I’m well past the baby days (cried as my 20 year old packed up the moving van last weekend!). But years ago, we went to see Pixar’s Inside Out and I just absolutely lost my eyeballs in the great flood when Bing Bong disappeared into the ether. Proper snot-bubbles and gulping sobs!

Neverfullycharged · 07/10/2022 15:07

It worried me because I thought by four and six we’d be long past night time circuses! Admittedly I only half watched it so maybe lost something in translation.

Dinneronmybfpillow · 07/10/2022 15:16

Not a tear... Camping much worse!

Weefreetiffany · 07/10/2022 15:59

yeah all of the above with bluey and grandpa and pretty much every episode of “trying” on Apple TV. Never gone from laughing to crying to laughing so quickly with a tv show.

ItsCorn89 · 07/10/2022 16:48

Bluey always makes me cry! Baby Race, Grandad and Sleepytime of course! The ending of Fairytale too where Bandit and Chilli meet for the first time as kids!

Theres a new one that’s not been released outside Australia yet but I saw it on TikTok where Chilli’s sister Brandi comes over and it’s such a tearjerker - so obviously I cried at that too.

Bluey is so special, we absolutely love it in our house.

ItsCorn89 · 07/10/2022 16:49

There’s also a Disney short called Far from the Tree which really made me cry too. If you grew up with very shouty parents I think it’ll touch a nerve!

PhloxOfSheep · 07/10/2022 17:15

Ok I feel slightly less silly now! Clearly there's a lot more crying over Bluey going on than I realised!

TheLoupGarou · 07/10/2022 17:20

Yup. I actually watched Sleepytime with dd today, cried and then cried AGAIN telling ds1 about it. He was totally perplexed "but mum, that's nice, not sad!?"

SorenLorensonsInvisibleFriend · 07/10/2022 18:22

Oh - Tee and Mo's Bag Full of Love.

Actual tears every time.

TroublesComing32 · 07/10/2022 19:13

Argh…the Tee and Mo Big Boy Boots song.

Also the I Love You Little Monster story I could hardly read cause I was crying so much!

BrutusMcDogface · 07/10/2022 19:25

I haven’t seen sleepytime but the one where bluey is playing mum with those balloons makes me weep. She asks her mum if she’s failed at being a mum and mum says yes but tomorrow is a new start (or something along those lines). How many times have I told myself that?!
