iPhone 8 bought from Back Market for £120 then a customised case from Amazon for £9.99. She's delighted with it.

At that age I got a 64g Motorola (android) for about £110 from argos (black friday) and £5/month sim 3g data and free calls Carphone warehouse. They looked after it and lasted over 2 years. Now they have a larger faster Motorola hand me down and 40g data etc for £10/month. They don't need a lot of data if they learn self discipline and use the home WiFi. The key is to give them something cheap and unfashionable and tell them they don't get a new one I'd they break it - proves responsibility!
