Trick or Treating Nowadays

What's the etiquette with trick or treating these days?
I've recently moved to a village where there are a lot of kids. In my entire adult life I haven't really lived in places where there are a lot of kids (or at least not ones who would go trick or treating) so I'm not sure what it's like these days. I know I could just not answer the door but I'd like to be neighbourly and give out sweets.

Would it be considered weird for someone who doesn't have a child to give out sweets? Do kids even like sweets these days or do they expect money? If so, how much is standard? Will my house get egged if I run out of sweets? How many bags of sweets should I get?

I find the amount of people who stress over Halloween baffling

Of course its not weird to give out sweets. Just make sure u have a pumpkin or something out so they know to knock.

Here it gets sooo busy. Last year we went through over 200 sweets!
So far this year i have purchased 15 bags of sweets. Just getting them weekly

Only knock on doors with obvious decorations
Tell the CF teenagers asking for money to sod off
Watch out for the CF kids (and parents who fail to police them) who try and scoop out the whole tub of sweets.
Just go to the pub instead.

I love halloween but all I usually do is watch Hocus Pocus and eat fun sized Milky Ways alone. Can't wait to do it properly this year!
