What to do with theatre tickets you can't use?

We have 4 tickets to go to see The Mousetrap in Bath (26 November). I was looking forward to it but then DD's orchestra changed the date of the performance to that day! They cost 132 all in and the theatre won't give us a refund unless it is sold out (which apparently it isn't yet) and they manage to resell them on the day.

What should I do? It would be such a shame to lose the money.

Put on Facebook marketplace, gumtree, eBay, ticketmaster I think have a reselling page

JohnsShirt · 06/10/2022 14:58

Sell them

ethelredonagoodday · 06/10/2022 14:59

Will they give you a credit note?

I tried facebook marketplace and the ad was removed for breaching their rules! Maybe they don't allow what they see as ticket touts? I will try the others but I am not very optimistic.

ethelredonagoodday That would be great but sadly no.

A post in a local FB group (check with admins first) rather than marketplace?

gaussian · 06/10/2022 15:10

NisekoWhistler eBay also doesn't allow you to sell theatre ticket. I just read

"
Not allowed
Concert, festival, sports, theatre and comedy tickets
"

Try Twickets. You can only sell them at face value but that seems reasonable to me.

gaussian · 06/10/2022 15:12

And now this from the gumtree

"Unfortunately we have had to remove your ad "Four tickets to see the Mousetrap in Bath on 26 November" posted in the category "Comedy & Theatre" from the site."

I don't know what to do!

TheSausageKingofChicago Thank you! I have just put them on twickets.

This. Not marketplace. Our local FB page has people do this often for local theatre/venues. As long as you’re not trying to make a profit (most people offer them for a reasonable less than face value amount) our admins seem ok with it. Ask in advance.

gogohmm · 06/10/2022 15:13

Our local town Facebook page does carry this sort of thing, Dave value or less

TheStirrer · 06/10/2022 15:51

Try nextdoor … or give them to me 😉

gaussian · 06/10/2022 15:59

TheStirrer Just tried nextdoor! Thank you. I am accepting offers too 😀

Ask on a local FB page if anyone has tickets a different night and would like to swap?

JohnsShirt · 06/10/2022 17:13

Twickets is brilliant, I've bought and sold a lot of tickets on there this year.

Unicorn2022 · 06/10/2022 18:18

Why don't you exchange the tickets for a different date? The website says tickets can be exchanged for a performance within a year of the date of the original show.

gaussian · 07/10/2022 14:43

Unicorn2022 That is really annoying if that is really possible . When I spoke to the theatre on the phone and asked what else we could do, I got no suggestion apart from hoping they can resell them on the day.

The good news is that a friend has taken the tickets off our hands now so at least the problem is solved.
