Somewhere with a a bit of a wow factor.

Also if zedel restaurant is booked can you have a drink downstairs?

Just to experience the Room?

Sorry but I haven’t a clue what you’re asking.

ShineOnYouLikeMorningStar · 06/10/2022 09:39

Typo?

giddyasakipper · 06/10/2022 09:39

What about Hawksmoor Air Street or Bob Bob Ricard in Soho?

mynameiscalypso · 06/10/2022 09:40

Maybe somewhere like The Wolseley? Don't know what it's like these days but it's quite a good room. We had afternoon tea at Sketch last year and that was impressive in a slightly crazy way.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 06/10/2022 09:41

Does it matter where in London? I love www.champor-champor.com near London Bridge, the menu is amazing and the restaurant itself is sensory experience.

HDready · 06/10/2022 10:07

That’s a shame, Brasserie Zedel is always my go to - such good value! Can you book a table for drinks in the bar? I’ve definitely been just for drinks, but can’t remember if we booked. There are also some tables upstairs in the more cafe bit. Wouldn’t recommend Sketch, it’s so expensive!

MilliwaysUniverse · 06/10/2022 10:10

Munich Cricket Club?

Glittertwins · 06/10/2022 10:12

Zedel usually have tables free later on in the day, do you have a fixed time you were looking for?
Last time we went, we didn't book but managed to get a table for a little later on

TheRubyRedshoes · 06/10/2022 11:06

Around 6 ish is what I was hoping for.

Sketch looks amazing but it's too expensive.

The place near London bridge also looks fab but I wanted to avoid that part of London as they will cover that on a trip.

Will check out hawkesmore.

I love the typo! Couldn't work that one out at all. My mum always called her bra her brassiere.

Xiaoxiong · 06/10/2022 11:12

www.timeout.com/london/restaurants/the-most-jaw-dropping-dining-rooms-in-london

Most of them come with price tags and/or waiting lists (sessions arts club) to match though.

Jose Pizarro at the Royal Academy is lovely too, though not as giant a dining room as Brasserie Zedel.

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 06/10/2022 11:14

Brassiere/brasserie is my favourite typo ever

TheRubyRedshoes · 06/10/2022 11:17

I second this! It's one of my all time favourites.

What is your budget? The other suggestions by PPs are a bit more expensive than Zedel. Do you want somewhere with the same grand, opulent feel? Champor Champor is beautiful but much more intimate.

If you want somewhere cheap in the same neighbourhood, the Hippodrome casino is an amazing building. The food is a bit average but we used to go for the £20 steak, lobster, champagne and roulette chip deal for fun sometimes. It's probably gone up now, we haven't been since COVID.

I don't think you can book tables in the bar at Zedel. Is there anything interesting on in the cabaret?

TheRubyRedshoes · 06/10/2022 11:18

@CloseYourEyesAndSee

I would never have noticed.

Balthazar in Covent Garden? My goto when I can’t go to Zedel.

Xiaoxiong · 06/10/2022 11:23

Oh the Nomad hotel is supposed to be pretty impressive too. And if you venture to the City, the Ned is lovely with quite a few restaurants - you can go just for a drink if you like.

TheRubyRedshoes · 06/10/2022 18:35

@CocoaBeanPlease

Thanks, I've been to Balthazar before and I think it's just the ticket.
Id have liked to try somewhere new....but it's perfect for now.

Talk about being London-centric? You're assuming we all know where you're talking about

DameHelena · 07/10/2022 11:39

The Delaunay? Same group as the Wolseley. Lovely room.

Spaghettio · 07/10/2022 11:40

We went to Zedel and they were booked up, but they said we could eat at the bar and you still get all the atmosphere.

choolaboola · 07/10/2022 11:46

Prix Fixe brasserie on Dean st v reasonable and good french food.
