Walking down the aisle: where's my handbag?

I'm going to be a bridesmaid soon! I'm staying overnight in a hotel the night before, so will arrive at the venue ready to walk down the aisle.

Stupid question but where do I put my stuff? I'll need a survival kit for me and bride, plus usual phone, vaseline etc. I can hardly walk to the altar with a blimmin big shoulder bag. Shall I just bring a bag in the taxi then fling it in a corner on arrival?

Any other aisle walkers have experience of this rather niche dilemma? 🤣

Must venues will have an ante-room for the bride and entourage to prepare for a few minutes. So not to get dressed, but for any last minute checks.

I got someone to take my bag with them and keep until after the service

Do you have any friends or family going that you can give it to in advance? They could meet you in the foyer while everyone is gathering? The registrar will want the bride aside for a minute anyway to do the last minute chat anyway?

You need to appoint a Keeper of the Bride's & Bridesmaids' Handbag . Maybe someone who didn't make the cut for the bridal party. 😁

The man who was in charge of making sure the day ran smoothly at our venue (what’s his title? He was amazing, but not sure what job it is!) took mine. He also had my flip flops and brought them to me when I hobbled back up the aisle! (I was the bride, but he was lovely and took bridesmaids things as well!)

Keep your stuff in your pockets instead of a bag.

Since when do bridesmaid dresses have pockets??

gingercat02 · 05/10/2022 21:16

I haven't been a bridesmaid since I was a child but my Mum kept my lippy etc when I got married and my only bridesmaid was my cousin do I presume my Aunt kept her bits and bobs. Not helpful sorry

The last wedding I went to, there was a massive ‘bag for life’ - the sturdy rectangular ones. Just went into the cab on the way and got put into a corner. I think at a wedding. You can trust people not to want to steal anything.

I had a small drawstring bag made from the same material as my dress, it was perfect for holding lipstick, small perfume, phone, nail file etc & the drawstring was long enough to hang it from my wrist.
You could make one yourself, there are instructions on Youtube.

I gave my bag to a trusted friend during the ceremony!

I got married 13 years ago and my wedding dress had pockets.

I just gave my stuff to DH to hold/carry when I was bridesmaid.

PandaOrLion · 05/10/2022 21:23

My bridesmaids and I gave things to one of the ushers.

PreferAnimals · 05/10/2022 21:38

I had a good friend hold a little bag for me that had everything in that I needed (lippie/mirror/phone etc)

Northernlurker · 06/10/2022 10:38

I was in charge of dd's bag when one was bride and the other two were bridesmaids

Heyahun · 06/10/2022 10:41

Dress pockets at the best - I had some in my wedding dress
