Can someone please help with advice on Vinted

Hello. I recently bought an item on vinted. The seller claims to have posted the item. Then a few days later I noticed their profile was blocked. Today they responded back and said that the parcel was returned to them. But when I check the tracking for Evri the parcel status shows as 'on the way'.

They now want me to follow instructions from a supposed 'vinted' email they got. This includes making an item as 'recieved' first. My concern is if I do this then wouldn't I just be accepting that I have got the parcel? I would then need to send it back if I can get a refund. If they say it wasn't recieved then they will just get the funds released.

Does anyone know about Vinted and how this works? Convo attached.

If you mark as received the seller gets paid by Vinted and you can’t dispute. I believe there’s no going back.
There should be a button for I have a problem.

Cantthinkofanewnameatm · 05/10/2022 18:06

Just checked.
Go to your profile page. Click my orders. Click the item you’re disputing. Top right hand side there’ll be i inside a circle. Click on that and options will appear to report, block etc…

ChilliBandit · 05/10/2022 18:11

Do not mark the item as received, they are trying to scam you. I’d do as @Cantthinkofanewnameatm has suggested.

There has been a real increase in scammers on Vinted lately, shame as I used to love it.

Russell19 · 05/10/2022 18:11

Do not click recieved.
It's 100% a scam and you will not get what you ordered. The good thing with vinted is if you don't recieve it or have a problem you'll get your money back. But you won't if you click item recieved.

Redburnett · 05/10/2022 18:24

Everything about those messages looks dodgy. As others have said do not mark as item received or you will lose your money. Ignore the seller's messages, and either wait a few days to see if the package arrives or mark it as not received.

Having used ebay for years I find Vinted much more difficult to deal with, both as a buyer and as a seller. But your case should be straightforward, you paid for an item, it is up the seller to ensure it reaches you. Even if Evri has returned it to the seller (unlikely) that is nothing to do with you. I would advise against engaging any further with the seller, ignore any further messages. And just remember that Vinted is a Lithuanian company, not UK based.

I had this on Monday - it's a scam. Don't mark as received. Report the messages to Vinted.

theinspireddesigner · 05/10/2022 18:31

Amazing thank you so much @Cantthinkofanewnameatm @ChilliBandit although should I wait for the money to come back into my account? (once delivery fails or the I have a problem button appears) if I report / block now then I may not be able to get the money back.

Thank you so much @Redburnett @Russell19 @LittleVille I won't tap the button then and just wait for the parcel failure to take its course. The scamming has increased significantly here!

It may take up to 30 days to get a refund if the parcel disappears from the system but you will get a refund. Vinted told me to allow up to 30 days and report any further messages from the seller

LittleVille · 05/10/2022 18:35

Was it an expensive item or a designer item by any chance?

canyouextrapol · 05/10/2022 18:36

I would report that immediately as it's obvious they are trying to scam you. Don't wait. They're probably simultaneously scamming loads of other people

surreygirl1987 · 05/10/2022 18:36

Definitely don't say it's been received!

theinspireddesigner · 05/10/2022 18:36

@LittleVille I have done so via their 'contact section'. Did you have the same? How did you resolve it? Did you wait for the parcel to arrive or did it update to say not delivered?

Mine is still showing as at the senders local depot - has been for 3 weeks but only on Monday they sent me the same screenshots. Username was a bunch of of random letters.

theinspireddesigner · 05/10/2022 18:40

@canyouextrapol @surreygirl1987 Already done and reported to Vinted. Now I'm just waiting for their message back.

@LittleVille How long did vinted take to reply to you? I've reported this across

OP posts:
LittleVille · 05/10/2022 18:48

It was the same messages to you - but I got a response earlier today so give it a couple of days

ChilliBandit · 05/10/2022 19:35

@theinspireddesigner - it takes about 48hrs for a reply

Supercal00 · 06/10/2022 19:11

I was just on Vinted and noticed some nice items but from sellers who have no history. If I make an offer and purchase and don’t receive is there a guarantee I will get my money back?
