If you have really REALLY long fingernails

How do you live your life? I keep seeing a photograph on facebook of a lady with massively long nails, feet long - assuming that they're real, how does she live? How does she wash, dress, use a phone, wipe your own backside? What job does she do to?

Admittedly hers are unusually long, but the more 'everyday' long nails that you occasionally see out and about - how do you function? Type on a keyboard? Prepare food? Or are they just applied for a few hours for an occasion/function and then taken off again to allow normal life to resume?

There's a woman with long, pointy nails at my office. When she types, she uses the points of her nails to press each key. It gives me the creeps and makes me shudder. 😖

Was chatting to a waitress with long nails about this. She had difficulty picking up menus she had dropped as nails so long. Couldn't thread a needle. Kept a pen behind here ear to press numbers on security locks.
It's a right faff when they are too long. My nails look normal but even they are a pest if I don't file them enough

i had gel nails on for the last few weeks. Finally got them removed yesterday and was delighted, My nails had got quite long and I was finding it harder and harder to do things. I had to ask for help to set my watch.

I was in a meeting the other day and a woman was doing this on an iPad. She was sitting behind me so I couldn’t see it without turning round but even just hearing the taps was horrible

Surely they should be banned for people who handle food at work?

I saw a young woman struggling to pick her change up off the counter in a shop because of her nails recently.

I can't understand why anyone would voluntarily hamper their ability to do every day things like that. Plus they must harbour all sorts of dirt under there, it does make me shudder a bit.

I do and don't find it difficult, they're natural so I get used to them as they grow, in fact I find it worse going from long to short as it's a sudden change.
I've always had long nails so it's just normal to me, I do keep them the same length though so if one breaks, they all get filed/cut to the same length as the shortest, they're pretty strong though.
Dd has them too, they must be genetic!

I've got quite long nails and they are so tough I type with them. But they are not so long that I cannot pick things up. I find it quite strange when I have to type with my fingertips!

I never had fake nails but I can remember years ago my friend (who had them) could not open things or undo zips. It all seemed a bit pointless (and would make me angry).

I work in healthcare and have never had long nails. I wonder how people can be 100% sure they have removed every trace of bacteria from under their nails with ordinary handwashing.

That being said, I love the look of beautifully manicured long nails. Long unkempt grimy ones though, with a week's worth of dirt underneath - bleaurgh.

It's like intentionally disabling yourself. Like wearing really high heels. It is indeed bizarre.
