Rental market

What’s the current experience of the rental market outside of London? A few months back it was bonkers. We’re likely to be looking to break our tenancy before our contract ends as we’re buying so wondered whether the rental market is still very buoyant generally across the country.

It’s gone crazy here, a not so great Black Country town.

A three bed semi here is now around £950pcm.

I can’t tell you what a crap place this is! It’s astonishing and I don’t know how people can afford the rent. We are so lucky we bought our run down place last year. It’s far from perfect but we would have been priced out of renting now. When we first moved here 3 years ago, we rented one of those 3 bed semis for £725pcm.

Places seem to be getting snapped up too.

As a landlord, I wouldn’t mind if my tenants asked to break their contract early as I am confident that they would be rented out quickly. Good luck. Some landlords may ask you to cover admin costs for having to perform an early inventory / tenant find fee etc.

I was having a nosy earlier out of interest, it is now 2-2.5k a month for a small 3 bed terrace. That's a grand more than a year ago.
