Holidays and sickness

Me and my partner have a holiday booked and due to fly Thursday night. Its our first holiday since 2019 and I was looking forward to the break away and time together.

He's just after coming down with an illness of some sort. He finished work and went straight to bed so I don't know really what's wrong with him.

Is this holiday looking unlikely now? Is there other stuff going around aside from covid?

Is this holiday looking unlikely now?
Would we be able to defer the flights and the resort or will we get refunds for cancellations if he deteriorates?

Don’t know re the flights and accommodation OP but didn’t want to read and run. I’d ring the travel firm or the airline/accommodation provider and check.

Yes, I’ve noticed that there are lots of illnesses going around at the minute. Some colleagues of mine are off ill and some of my family Aren’t feeling the best - I’ve not got anything (yet)

Has he done a LFD test if you have any left? It may not be covid.

Also, he could be just having an ‘off day’ - he might be feeling better by tomorrow!

What a bummer though - I really hope you get your holiday!

Thank you for the reply. How long is the dose? Is it a 24 hour bug?

No, he went straight to bed.

How long is the dose? Are they down for a few days?

Will make some phone calls tomorrow.

DH was poorly for almost 5 days, currently on day 2 with DS but his symptoms done seem quite as severe as DH.

DS would probably be ok to fly, no way could DH have in the first 3 days.

I'm glad they both have whatever is now TBH as we go on holiday in 3 weeks!

^ thanks for the reply above. Yeah, I reckon my partner is down and out for now.

It's bad timing for me and my partner and I am asking myself 'why now?'. Why didn't it come last week. Or another time. Why now.

This was going to be our first break away in years and now this.

He might recover before your holiday? And it might not be covid, there’s other things going around too like the common cold. Can he get his hands on a covid test? … If he’s not too bad I would still go on holiday, just get him to wear a mask on the plane so he doesn’t give anyone else his cold or catch anything else while his immune system is down.

Also it’s not the nicest treatment, however I find taking a clove of raw garlic each day of the cold will significantly shorten the cold and seems to stop it developing into a cough. (chop up the clove into tiny pieces though, don’t swallow whole because it’s easy to choke on!). Also does he take vitamins?

If it’s a stomach bug it could be a 24hr thing? Hopefully you can still go on holiday 🤞🏻
