I’m out at a meeting tomorrow evening until 6:30 pm so by the time I get home we’ll be starving. What are your favourite quick meals?

A pre bought stir fry

jewishmum · 04/10/2022 17:45

Pasta, some jar of pesto, grated cheese. Handful of frozen peas before you drain.

chilliesandspices · 04/10/2022 17:49

At the moment I'm a bit obsessed with the chow mein from Kwoklyn Wan's veggie Chinese takeaway but you do need mushroom stir fry sauce which I could only find at the Chinese supermarket until Sainsburys recently stocked it. Worth bearing in mind for future quick meals. I just buy a mixed packet of sugar snap peas and green beans or whatever is in Tesco express so it's done in 10 minutes.

Otherwise I do tortellini like a PP and toss in olive oil with grated pecorino.

autienotnaughty · 04/10/2022 17:55

I'd do a stew in slow cooker or make a soup or a spag bol tonight and re heat tomorrow.

Swg · 04/10/2022 17:59

Toastie.
Beans on toast
Omlette

adilemna123 · 04/10/2022 18:05

One I learnt from here! Bake a block of feta with a tub of cherry tomatoes and salt, pepper, chilli, herbs and olive oil drizzled over for 20 mins. Cook spaghetti at the same time. Drain spaghetti and stir together.

Yutes · 04/10/2022 18:08

Breakfast for dinner
scrambled egg on toast with salmon or avocado or bean

AffectiveFilter · 04/10/2022 18:10

Poached salmon, microwaved brown rice, steamed broccoli. Doable in about 15 minutes.

Fantina · 04/10/2022 18:12

Crudités, pitta and houmous etc, and col pre-cooked chicken. Can be on the table in minutes.

Fantina · 04/10/2022 18:12

Cold

Bacon pasta

Much the same but bacon and sliced courgettes and chuck in a dollop of garlic and herb soft cheese and a bit of pasta water to make the sauce.

Also fajitas 😋

JlL2013 · 04/10/2022 20:39

Just did quorn nuggets, wraps, salad and microwave rice. Ready in 15mins, just chop the salad and pour a glass of wine whilst the nuggets are cooking.

emmathedilemma · 04/10/2022 20:45

Bag of story fry veg, tofu or cooked chicken or prawns and microwave rice or rice noodles. No prep and less than 5min to cook.

emmathedilemma · 04/10/2022 20:45

Stir fry not story!!

DinosApple · 04/10/2022 20:46

Stuffed pasta, pesto, garlic bread.

AdoraBell · 04/10/2022 20:48

As others I would do pasta and bacon, any veg in the pan with the bacon. Add the pasta and mix in the bacon pan.

Clevs · 04/10/2022 20:58

Mushroom and Stilton pasta...

Whilst pasta is cooking fry off some mushrooms and onions. Pour in some double cream, crumble in some Stilton and stir until melted. Season with black pepper.

kateandme · 05/10/2022 18:11

Basically what we conclude is just eat pasta and it is the food of the gods.😁

MrsMigginsCat · 05/10/2022 18:18

Fried halloumi, tzatziki made with grated cucumber, mint and yogurt, served with couscous with chopped dried apricots, flaked almonds, raisins and lemon. Had it tonight. Took less than 15 mins.

aesopstables · 05/10/2022 18:24

Anything you make tonight you can just warm
up? Esp good with soups curries etc. Some of those rice pouches that take 2 mins in the microwave.

But also OMG fishfingers is a good call. In a bun with tartare yuuuuum
