Just that really - been offered that or an injection of GnRHa whilst waiting for surgery ( I had severe bleeding which resulted in me being in resus and then hospital stay).

I didn’t get much info from the consultant - on reading I think it possibly has less side effects? I’m currently on Provera until moving to one or the other.

@ForMintCat I started having fibroids at your age. Fertility treatment at 40, unsuccessful. At 41 I was put on waiting list for open myomectomy and it happened 6months later (London). However, they couldn't access the fibroid as they found endometriosis with adhesions & endometrioma in left ovary. They just 'cleaned' as much as they could and closed again! Few months later I got pregnant and became a mum at 43 yo. I am on Ryeqo now, for a year. All fibroids have reduced except for one that is growing (the one they couldn't operate). I am waiting to hear options. My advise is try not to worry. Fibroids and even endometriosis or age are not always an impediment to get pregnant! In my case it happened after giving up and finally accepting I wasn't going to be a mum. A total surprise.

Thanks so much for your message. So happy things worked out for you x

I have been on Ryqo for about 7 months now ,no periods at all ,but my doctor has already told me that there will be less bleeding or none until when I stop taking the medicine periods and ovulation will return rapidly.anyways I have stage 6 fibroids and I am 34 with no kids but I would love to have them ,so my doctor told me that the best treatment for me is Radiofrequency ablation ,they shall shrink my fibroids using that method and afterwards according to her I shall have kids ,because if they do normal operation something might go wrong since I have a very large fibroid on my left ovary which was giving me so much problems before I started taking Ryeqo.and I could feel it just by torching my left ovary but now it feels small on the 22rd I will be going for a checkup and I will update because after that I will undergo the Radiofrequency ablation.i just hope all will go well because it's been years of pain.i think Ryeqo is a good medicine even though it's a trial medicine it works .

Thanks so much for the information! Please keep us posted. Sending love x

Hi all, i ‘ve been using ryeqo for 2 weeks now but i think my bleeding got worse. I also taking tranaxemic acid for 2 tablet 4 times a day but feels like it will not stop anytime. i consulted my gynae and suggest to continue for couple of weeks the ryeqo and if not she will inject me with different kind of meds i can’t remember the name of it. these are my containment action while waiting for hysterectomy. hope we will all be ok.

I have been taking ryeqo since November last year, i had a few side effects but they slowed down after about 4 months.

Hi I was on Ryeqo for a year and it did help with my menopause symptons but not sure if it has reduced the fibroids as i did not get scanned again. During this time I had my umbilical hernia repair. In Janurary the Gyni's registrar told me to stop taking it as I had been on it for a year. I had about a weeks bleeding but then all my hot flushes , brain fog lots of menopause symptoms started. Was told that I would be seen after 3 months but did not get seen until October. Could not go on HRT as it would increase the fibroids. The Dr was then going to start me on Ryeqo but when I asked him to look at my blood results he said I could not take it as my liver test were not ok(fatty liver).

Now my hernia pain has started and not sure if that is because my fibroids are too big. Not had a scan to check the size. Hormones indicate that I am in menopause. Now I have UTI infection . I feel I have no option but to have a hysterectomy which I was trying to avoid. Just unsure what I need to do and then trying to get an appointment again. Feeling very low.

I've just been taken off of ryeqo due to constant heavy bleeding, large clots and extreme pain. I was put on this, and I quote my consultant "I had a call and was told no one else to have the prostap injection all to go onto ryeqo".

This has not worked for me at all and apparently im not the only patient on this consultant who has had problems, back onto the injections when I get an appointment.

I was put on it to help with large fibroids.

Which side effects did you have? 4 months is quite a long time to wait for them to slow down.

‼️‼️ Do not take ryeqo! I had it for 6 months, it gave me side effects and serious health problems after. Just want to share this so other ladies know about and not make my mistake.

Babyfishmouth86 · 25/01/2026 16:54

Truly unhelpful. Everyone is different - I’ve been on it for two years with few side effects and it has changed my life for the better dramatically. I’m sorry you’ve had issues with it but you’re just spreading unnecessary fear.

What were the side effects and continuing health problems please?

Liver problems, which I never had before, acid reflux, hot flashes . Still on medication to treat acid reflux, and referred to hospital to see specialists about my liver
