...and my 5yo has been up most of the night sobbing with ear pain. He will certainly need the day off school, he's in agony and can't sleep. DH has the car booked in for a service and MOT, garage is miles away so he'll necessarily be gone most of the morning. Sob :(

Good luck 🤞

Can you put in for extenuating circumstances? Postpone the exam? If not, iPad for the little one and good luck!

Sadly it can't be postponed, my exam slot is today, the next round isn't for another 6 months.

Much coffee!

@TheMightyThor you've had a name change fail

Could car MOT be rearranged? Depends how important the exam is I guess and how likely poorly child is to cope without attention? If they are really poorly set up with tv/ screen/ snacks should be fine. Are you allowed toilet breaks in the exam when you could pop your head around the door to check in?

Get your DH to take DS with him

LondonQueen · 04/10/2022 07:02

DH needs to take DS to the garage with him.

lannistunut · 04/10/2022 07:03

Your DH needs to help, he can take DS.

It's shit but "most of the day" is better than nothing. My husbands been away since August. Yes I'm feeling sorry for myself.

Hope it works out.

Boomboom22 · 04/10/2022 07:16

Your husband will need to take him with him or cancel the mot until later today or tomorrow.
Surely he can see your exam is the most important and of course you cannot have a 5yr old in the room or be responsible, all your focus should be on the exam. I'm actually angry at your husband who is off work anyway!! And if he wasn't he would have to call in for a childcare day. Obviously.

belle40 · 04/10/2022 07:18

Your DH takes care of your child. If it is any consolation, I took (and passed) my PhD viva after two nights / days of no sleep as my child had a horrendous D and V bug. Coffee and adrenaline will get you through it. Good luck!

AngelaChasesBestLife · 04/10/2022 07:23

I would phone the provider and ask to defer. I work in this area and it's much better all round if students do this rather than sit the exam, do badly and then try and submit extenuating circumstances afterwards.

Hellocatshome · 04/10/2022 07:30

Your DH needs to deal with DS today in whatever form that takes. Exam trumps car MOT.

No brainer, ds goes with dh. Up to dh as to whether he rearranges the MOT or not. Really he should have seen to ds last night knowing you needed full concentration for your exam.
