How to gain confidence and step outside your comfort zone?

My world has become so small since Covid and I’ve lost confidence at trying new things and challenging myself. Even really small things like I want to try a new gym but keep putting it off as it’s somewhere new and I’m unsure of myself. I’m so cross with myself but don’t know how to change!

For me personally, I gain confidence by stepping outside my comfort zone. I feel nervous doing new things at first, but when I have done them a few times, it gets easier and I feel more confident. The more I put things off, the harder it becomes.

How would you go about joining this gym? Can you do it online or do you need to ring them or speak to them in person?

Maybe tell someone you treat that you're going to join X gym on Y day. The public and specific declaration might help here.

Deep breath.
Big pants.
Av a word,
Do it.

Feel the fear and do it anyway.

Usually the fear is of some trivial mistake and the reality is no one will really notice or care. Most people are happy to help out if asked.
