Selling on eBay

I have never sold anything on eBay before but I want to sell a large furniture item (sofa).

I hear a lot about people getting scammed or not getting their money and keeping the item etc

So does anyone have any tips or tricks? 😊

Cash on collection ONLY

Why eBay over marketplace? I would try marketplace first to save on fees

You might struggle. Sofas are one of those items that are almost impossible to get rid of, and selling them can takes weeks / months and usually for a tiny amount of what you paid.

If possible I would try facebook market place or gumtree first, as you don't need to deal with fees, and can ask for cash on collection.

Facebook marketplace would be much easier with a large item.
They pay you when they pick it up.

Be honest in your advert and highlight any defects marks etc.
I've been buying and selling on there for years and only ripped off twice. Buyers get better support than sellers in my experience.
Have you tried gumtree and Shpock? Easy to use and no fees. I try to sell big stuff on these sites first and resort to ebay if unsuccessful as it has a bigger reach

Thanks everyone 😊

I have a bit of anxiety so was wanting to avoid FB marketplace in case it didn’t sell or I needed to drop the price as I live in a small town and everyone knows everyone 😅

I don’t think we have gumtree round here. Why cash on collection only?

because the buyer can claim their money back on PayPal and say they didn’t get it and you would have no proof. Why would you want them to pay online for an item they would need to collect anyway? Most people would prefer cash

If not high value dont bother...lage items take forever to sell....people here give sofas etc away daily !
