I think they are just delaying it. It just shows that they have not a fucking clue and they have 2 years to absolutely shaft this country and then walk away. It terrifies me.

The announcement itself was enough to destabilise the markets so the disaster capitalists will already have made their fortunes. It has done its job so they can reverse it now.

Pretending they didn't expect the market reaction is a nonsense. If I, who last studied Economics in the early 1980's knew it would happen, they certainly could, even should have known.

I'd rather they owned it as a deliberate destabilising of the markets than a blind obedience to the ultra right wingers who put them in power.

It's almost like they dint know what they are doing.

Given she's been in government for TWELVE years it's unforgivable.

If it's that easy to u-turn I'd be concerned as to what else they'll start u-turning in future. This u-turn is the right thing to do but it's Boris' government all over again isn't it - make stupid decisions and overturn some when people complain. Unfortunately lots don't get overturned.
