Is Pokémon go suitable for a seven year old

I'm considering buying my nearly 7 year old a switch for Christmas as she's keen on her brother's.

However, I'd like to buy her different games to him for some differentiation. Would Pokémon go be accessible to her?

She likes animal crossing but despite being a fairly good reader, finds all the chatting/reading a bit tedious. Is Pokémon similar?

My 4 year old DD has a switch and pokemon so I say yes. Reading is important though as there's quite a bit of it.

I thought Pokémon go was a mobile phone app only?

Kids can enjoy a play at 7 but it involves walking around out of the house to really engage so would need to be done together. I think the age suggested by the game is 13+

I may well have got the name wrong...there seems to be a lot of different Pokémon related games for the switch

Pokémon Go is played on their phones. They need to walk around to find the Pokémon.

There are lots of Pokémon games for the Switch and my son still loves them and he’s 18. But definitely fine for a 7 yr old too :)

@Downtherefordancing, is there one in particular you'd advise to begin with?

@Mallowmarshmallow My DS recommends Pokémon Let’s Go to start but then says Pokémon: Legends Arceus is really good 😊

They're all basically the same game. I say this as the owner of an 11 year old who has loved them since he was 6 and used a DS to play!

Now got all the Switch ones and STILL hunts in the village on Go with his friends. Harmless enough. Not complicated. Some reading on the games when you explore the regions and meet characters. Lots of the pokemon are nonsense words though, so theoretically great for phonics!

I'm 30 and I played Pokémon Yellow when I was a kid 20+ years ago! Spent many happy hours playing it.
