Getting make up done in a store - how?

Ok so maybe I should know this at my age but I don’t 🤷‍♀️

There are make up counters in Boots and department stores. Can I just go up to a rep and ask them to do my make up? Do I have to pay? Do I have to buy the products?

You don’t have to pay, you don’t have to buy anything. They might give you samples, they will try to sell you stuff but you can decline. You can show up and ask at most counters. The results are patchy.

What's it for? An occasion?

Yes but be careful what you wish for, some of them are awful and it's so dependant upon the individual.

Well the only make up I wear is a little mascara and a thin line of charcoal eye shadow. Pre covid I wore a bit of lipstick, but stopped that as having to wear a mask.
I just would like to have my makeup done to see what I might look like and if I might look less haggard!

If you go somewhere more high end (one of the counters in Harvey Nichols/ Selfridges etc) then you will need to book and pay but the fee is redeemable against products. The artists are better though!!
