I want to sell this Halloween costume on EBay, how much should I ask for? .
It's a complete outfit with a head dress , earrings, necklace and a bag.
Also boots but should I list those separately? Thanks.

List the boots separately as the person buying may not be the size that they are.

Thank you.
Any hints or tips to help me sell it?

Like anything else. Be accurate with sizing and measurements. Highlight any damage. Be honest about condition. Be realistic about postage/delivery costs.

What’s the brand?

GoneBeserk · 02/10/2022 13:46

It would be better on a dummy that isn’t black as you can’t see the necklace very well.

It looks a bit crumpled - maybe it would be better if you didn’t have the lighting from one side, and without the white sheet behind?

also the photo looks blurry so the cuffs just look ragged rather than nice lace

good to see if the cloak and dress separately and also really good close up shot of the lace trim.

Also I wonder if you could do a photo of someone wearing it at night time with dramatic lighting / some effects/ make up on? Including the headgear and the bag.

When you list it you could mention you are selling boots separately that match the outfit well, and happy to bundle them to minimise the postage.

Great tips thanks. This is me wearing it last wear but I changed the jacket.
The doll is listed separately and I'll mention that.
No brand I made most of myself.

What is the absolute minimum you would be prepared to sell it for? At what point would you rather put it back in the wardrobe than part with it?

properdoughnut · 02/10/2022 14:06

Sell boots separately.

Lots and lots of photos. Anything that could be considered damage- include a photo of that.

List it for about £5 higher than you want for it and then accept offers for the minimum price you want for it.

Don't expect loads, people go to ebay for a bargain.

Swampmonster1988 · 02/10/2022 14:13

About £6?

downwiththebees · 02/10/2022 14:15

Vinted has no fees

You might want to consider making the individual components available separately? For instance, the coat and the corset I LOVE and would look to buy if I saw them, but not the rest, but someone else might just want the skirt etc. Also, then it’s not just ‘a costume’. I mean, I would wear the items I like to Sainsburys quite happily! Whereas a ‘costume’ would only be for a party and I would therefore expect to spend a lot less for it than for items I would wear more often IYSWIM.

Is it a certain character or just a generic, halloween dress? TBH, I'd normally spend no more than £20 max on a brand new outfit for myself (preferably half that), so for 2nd hand maybe £10.

Agree with accurate measurements and in the dress listing, mention that you have shoes available.

Izzabellasasperella · 02/10/2022 16:34

Thanks for all your replies.
I wore it as a gothic doll including the doll in a matching outfit.
I wouldn't sell for £6 or £10.
I thought it would sell quicker as a whole outfit especially at this time of year.
I'll list it and see what happens. 😀

Another option is to list the cape/dress etc separately, but make mention in all the adverts that you have others items to match and will combine postage if someone wanted the lot.

ScottishLavender · 02/10/2022 20:58

Cool outfit!! You'd fit right in at Whitby on Halloween! Really lovely.

Time40 · 02/10/2022 21:13

I'd do it as an auction, and start the auction at the minimum you would accept for it. Definitely list the boots separately. But if you sell it as a costume, I think there's a risk that you won't pick up as many possible buyers as you would do if you just sell it as normal clothing, so I think I'd go for listing everything individually.
