Classic Samsara dupe

I used to love the classic Samsara perfume but it is no longer available.
You can buy Samsara but it’s not the same as the lovely classic “90s” perfume.
Does anyone have any ideas of perfumes that smell like the classic Samsara?
See image of the perfume I’m talking about.

Following, I loved this 😍

AnyFucker · 02/10/2022 15:18

Samsara used to be my “signature” perfume back in the day 😀

Perfume Parlour do a dupe.
BUT: IMO, (and I have over 50 PP dupes of the real perfumes, and some I prefer- they seem much closer to the original pre EU law reformulations- Opium and Rive Gauche for example) Guerlain is one house where PP are not quite on the nose (pun intended) Chanel being the other. They're good, but not quite good enough. Most probably due to the guerlinade "secret formula" etc
Your best bet is eBay for a pre-reform. But for about a fiver, PP may be worth a try. I have the Samsara and I do like it and wear it, but it's just slightly lacking that Guerlain oomph.

I love it too and couldn't find it in the original bottle either. I've got the new style one but I'm sure it's pretty similar or even the same. Is it different?

boisdejasmin.com/2011/10/guerlain-samsara-new-and-vintage-perfume-review.html#:~:text=On%20Reformulation&text=While%20I%20fully%20expected%20that,is%20sharper%2C%20brighter%20and%20crisper.

There's a lot less sandalwood in the newer versions due to restrictions on harvesting it, so the newer ones smell "creamier" and less "smoky" I'd say.

Bois de Jasmine (a fabulous and very knowledgeable Ukrainian perfume blogger well worth following) seems to prefer the new ones.

I've had a look on eBay and there are some old ones, but they're spendy!

Look on eBay and Vinted - you’ll often find partially used vintage formulations for sale not very expensively.

I find that most of the older Guerlains (with the exceptions perhaps of Nahema and Jicky, which are very distinct) share enough of the classic Guerlain “nose” and base fragrances that you might like them. Try Shalimar, Mitsouko and L’Heure Bleu, in Parfum or if you can get it, Extrait.

I’ve smelt the new one… it’s not the same. According to a quick google Red Door by Elizabeth Arden is similar. I’m yet to go and give it a sniff.

Unfortunately imo Red Door is nothing like Samsara.

PAFMO · 02/10/2022 16:21

No, I wouldn't say Red Door is much like Samsara. It's creamy and there's sandalwood, but there isn't the underlying Guerlain unique thing.

Paulinedolly23 · 02/02/2023 13:01

As a samsara wearer of 30 year the new formula is a disappointing substitute smells chemical like and doesn't last on your skin the way the old one did u can source old bottles but they are half used and crazy prices I know this sounds sad but I feel I've lost my signature scent identity and can't find anything else that suits me and I'm just refusing to buy the new bottles not worh the money come on guerlain yous can do better than this poor substitute

Thenmydogsteptonabee · 02/02/2023 13:58

Tbh, I just bought the new version as much as it’s not the same. Nothing came close to the classic Samsara but the new version is the best ‘dupe’ I could find 🤷🏼‍♀️
