If I spent Monday with two people who went down with Covid in the next couple of days...

I'd have it by now if I was going to. Right?

We went to the football at Wembley. TBH one of them wasn't very well with all the classic symptoms on the night, but was testing negative at the time. The other got ill on Weds but hasn't had a positive test until today. I haven't seen either of them since Monday and so far have been OK.

I sat between the two of them. Panicking slightly only because I'm suppose to fly later this week.

I’ve slept in the same bed with 2 separate people on different nights and drank from the same carton as one of them and still haven’t ever caught it.
So no guarantees you will get it, fingers crossed for you!

Assuming you were outside the whole time, you'll have a good chance of not catching it. I think the incubation period is potentially about 10 days, isn't it? But anyone I know who's had it has shown symptoms within a few days (if they know who they caught it from, obviously).

Not really, travelled 2 hours on the train and went to the pub!

The one who got ill on weds probably caught it from patient zero on Monday, so I’d guess you were ok.

ChakaKhanfan · 02/10/2022 08:37

When I last had it, at the end of July, I felt ill for about four days prior to actually getting a positive test result.
I would test intermittently and if you feel ill, I would assume you have it and try not have contact with others. It’s not great timing with your flight so just be sensible.

This summer my husband had Covid three days before my daughter's A levels started and neither she nor I got it. I slept in the same bed as him throughout.
I then worked with a group of foreign students- I interviewed 22 of them on the Monday morning- no masks- and by Thursday 17 of them were positive- they'd obviously either got it on the plane or one of them was already positive. They were really ill and one hospitalised (only about 3 of them were vaccinated) I was convinced that my time was up- but nothing!

It's just so random-especially now!

Good luck that you've passed the incubation point!

DS caught it off DH after 3 days. I took 5 days to get symptoms.

Abraxan · 02/10/2022 08:48

Dh slept beside me for several days and didn't catch it. On two separate occasions,
When dh had it at a separate time, I slept next to him and didn't catch it.
Dd has been in the house with both us of in 3 occasions, plus with friends in other occasions, even sleeping alongside a friend in a tent on one time, all people with covid - and never yet caught it.

It seems to vary massively.

Frazzled2207 · 02/10/2022 08:50

Dh and I have slept in the same bed when one of us had it and the other didn’t catch

more recently my 7 yo has it and slept in my bed with me. Again I didn’t catch.

I’d say 50/50 overall but given the amount of time passed you’re likely in the clear

Explaintome · 02/10/2022 08:57

I've had it twice and had 3 vaccinations. I'd like to think I have some immunity! But then so had they.

I shared a car twice with someone who tested positive the next day. 40 mins each time. I tested every day for a week, never got it.

forlornlorna1 · 02/10/2022 09:11

I had Covid early September and no one else in the house caught it from me. Even dh!. Hopefully you'll get lucky too

RuthW · 02/10/2022 09:17

It's roulette. You might get it, you might not. If still ok after 14 days you are ok b
