Has anyone else got this cold that makes your ears feel like aeroplane ears

You know when your on an aeroplane and your ears are about to pop. Mine are feeling like that but no way of popping them. I have a slight cold, I'm assuming it's that.

Has anyone else had/ got this?

I would check it isn’t a build up of wax

BakedTattie · 02/10/2022 07:19

I get this when I have sinusitis

Gettingthereithink · 02/10/2022 07:21

How old are you OP? I have had poppy, irritated and then infected ears as a symptom of the menopause.

Imissmoominmama · 02/10/2022 07:22

I have Covid and my ears are doing that…

earsexploding · 02/10/2022 07:28

I am 33 so I wouldn't think it's that, but who knows! 🤷🏼‍♀️
Thank you all

Yes! We've had a bad cold this week in our house and both me and DP have complained of really uncomfortable poppy ears. Put it down to inflammation in our sinuses as throat and ears linked

Lampzade · 02/10/2022 07:40

When I had covid this happened

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 02/10/2022 08:06

To clear your ears, hold your nose and blow, as hard as necessary.

littlemissalwaystired · 02/10/2022 08:13

I've had that this week, also with a cold. It cleared by itselfSmile

CosmopolitanPlease · 02/10/2022 08:15

My son and I have this now, we've got covid. But any snotty cold will do it too.

Shinyhappyperson22 · 02/10/2022 08:15

I had covid in July and it really affected my ears like that. But also can happen with a cold type virus etc.

Vecnussy · 02/10/2022 08:25

Yes. I have this right now. I also have a sinus infection currently. It's all linked. I find giving my jaw a 'wiggle' relieves a bit of pressure every now and then but not much.

earsexploding · 02/10/2022 08:26

Thanks everyone. My cold is so mild. My son has a bad one and I done a Covid test on him yesterday and was negative. Will test myself today just to be sure.

Yes when I had covid, very odd sensation.

deedledeedledum · 02/10/2022 09:04

Yes any cold if centred in your sinus's can cause this. Ear, nose and throat are all connected. Inflammation in any of these areas can cause this issue. Don't go poking anything in to clear your ears. It's most likely inflammation not debris

LicoriceComfit · 02/10/2022 09:07

Covid did this to my ears too.

cheeseybeans19 · 02/10/2022 09:11

Yes, had the cold a week and my right ear is sticky and ringing (but has done that on and off since I had covid back in January) Went to the doctor on Friday as although I haven’t got pain the ringing is so annoying, and she prescribed antibiotics as she said there’s some fluid behind my ear drum.

ghislaine · 02/10/2022 09:14

Yes I have this right now. The glued up ear sensation appeared a few days before the sore throat and blocked nose.

Crunchymum · 02/10/2022 09:42

I have it too and it's giving my dizzy spells (oddly when I lay down, just for a few seconds but I'm fine when upright)

Negative covid test, BP is fine (I measured it myself regularly anyway) and other than having a bit of a cold I'm fine? May call the GP tomorrow if it's still going on. Its been a few days now.

sunshineamongsttheshitstorm · 02/10/2022 10:14

I've had this once after covid and another just after a cold. It actually made me severely deaf for 2 weeks both times, the only way I could clear it was steaming, hot water with an essential oil. Head over a bowl and a towel over head and really inhale. It really cleared me out, grim I know but my ears soon popped and my hearing came back instantly 🫣

SpringCalling · 02/10/2022 10:18

My ear has been totally blocked for a week now. just finished course of antibiotics (for ear infection caused by cold) and still not popped ... Got a club night next Saturday so wondering what is cut off date to pull out as will not be pleasant if ears not popped / worry could cause damage ...

cheeseybeans19 · 02/10/2022 11:30

@SpringCalling i might give that a try, I’ve got some menthol crystals. The sticking and ringing noise are driving me mad

hellsbells99 · 02/10/2022 11:31

I have had this recently as has my DD, I tested positive for covid after 3 days.

earsexploding · 02/10/2022 11:46

I just done a Covid test and it's negative so I assume just a normal cold
