Help! How can I tax my car

Long story short, I’ve come on a long journey and need to drive back tomorrow. However I’ve just remembered my car tax was due yesterday ffs. The letter is at home and so is my logbook, so I can’t do it online. I don’t even owe any tax as my car is exempt but you still have to go through the motions. Does anyone know of a workaround?

No one at home to get the docs, tax office is closed until Monday. My car is off the road so hopefully won’t be picked up tonight but I don’t want to risk a long journey if I can help it for risk of being pulled over. Even the bloody trains are on strike! Help!

I don’t think there is a way you can do it. I’d just drive it but I appreciate your attitude to risk may differ from mine.

I'd be the same, @Shade17. Just drive it and sort as soon as you get home.

It's a few days over you will be fine.

I discovered to my horror that my car was untaxed for several months!
I didn't get a reminder because the dealers forgot to send off the V5!
However when I got through to the DVLA they were fab..helped me sort it and I was able to back pay the tax I owed.

So I really wouldn't worry!

What amazes me is i MUST have passed through many number plate recognition cameras yet nothing was ever picked up! (Thankfully!)

Mine was untaxed for a few months too as work didn’t send me the reminder. I would drive it home and just do the renewal straight away
