Can you check if my calculations are correct?

So I'm looking at my gas & electric. Using September's usage figures & the new tariffs to see what October costs might look like.

New tariff:
Gas 10p pKwh, Standing charge 28.5p
Electric 35p pKwh, Standing charge 39p

September's usage:
6 units of gas
49 units electricity

So I make a projection of £20.93 standing charge for October & £17.15 for energy usage, totalling £38.68.

What I'm gobsmacked about is that if I'm correct, I've only used 60p of gas in all September, is this correct? I live alone and only use the hob every 2nd day, heating not on yet. I can't open my bills online because I need Adobe and I've had difficulties downloading it.

I also use gas for the shower. Still, I'm shocked at 60p for a whole month.

My gas meter shows cubic metres as units but I am billed per kwh. I think you have to multiply by 11 to get from cubic metres to kwh for gas. Is your gas meter cubic metres or kwh? You might need to convert to kwh.

Beat me to it! Still, £6.60 on gas is amazing.

I just looked at the meter, it says 'cubic feet' on the dial

Yes gas meters don't measure in kwh so you have to timesnthe number of units on the meter by a certain number first then by the price per unit. I will try to find it hang on...

I'm glad I asked, I find this stuff so confusing. I can't get onto the Shell website because it's overloaded at the moment.

31.6586

So its number of units x 31.6586 then x your answer by the unit price

That comes out at £18.99.. Not much in the grand scheme of things but if I used the hob every night & had heating on too, it'd probably be nearer £100.
