Two months off work as a family - what to do?

DH has had a project finish unexpectedly early. I’m currently on mat leave. It suddenly looks like we’ll have all of October and November with neither of us working. Kids are 2y (DD) and 5m (DS). DD is in nursery 2 days a week but otherwise we have literally zero plans during that time.

I really want us to make the most of the time as a family so does anyone have any ideas of things you’d do? Bear in mind the baby doesn’t sleep very well so I’m not sure I’ve got the energy to go backpacking around South America! Also while DH has been paid for the project already so we’re not going to be short financially, with everything going on with the cost of living etc we’re trying to keep our belts tightened, so trying to think of lower cost ideas.

I basically am just v aware that while the kids are too young to really appreciate it, it’s likely this will be the only time we ever have this long together as a family of four and I want to make the most of it!

This is my dream. I'd do some short trips, long weekends to the seaside etc here and there, but also use the time to get the house in shape for winter (summer clothes away, massive clean, clear out cupboards / freezer etc), do some batch cooking, plan and buy as much for Christmas as possible, sort out dentist appts etc, have a fair few pyjama / movie days.

I feel like lots of short trips / days out make the time seem longer than a couple of longer trips! If you can afford it though a weeks autumn / winter sun would be glorious!
