London Underground today - Richmond help!

Suttonstracke · 01/10/2022 07:26

I’m finding it hard to get clarity - I need to get from Richmond to Vauxhall today. On the TFL website it says no service from Turnham Green to Richmond but in another alert it says Limited Service from Richmond to Turnham Green. Does that mean I can go from Richmond to Vauxhall?! I only need to go one way. Anyone local who can help?

Richmond to Turnham Green is the underground district line, so avoid that. The overground line to Waterloo stops at Vauxhall and doesn’t go near Turnham Green so shouldnt be affected

Suttonstracke · 01/10/2022 07:35

@PregnantAgainOhMy there is no Overground line at all today.

It depends on which train company runs the service. Southeastern isn't running any trains today.

Puppylucky · 01/10/2022 07:38

It's the other way round. The district line should be working but the trains won't be

Clymene · 01/10/2022 07:38

Ok you can get southwestern from Barnes bridge to Vauxhall. It's the feltham to Waterloo service. You can get a bus from Richmond to Barnes bridge

Suttonstracke · 01/10/2022 07:39

@Clymene I’m asking about the District underground line, rather than the train. We’ve already had to rearrange other plans because of that.

I can Google etc, just wondering if there are any locals doing a journey from Richmond today into central London and how they’re doing it! :)

@Puppylucky the District Line has zero service from Turnham Green to Richmond though. There are other disruptions as well today. I’m trying to work out if we can still go the other way, Richmond to Vauxhall though!

Oh right. Assumed the tube would be out. It says there are limited services to Turnham Green. Can't you get a bus to Turnham Green and then get the tube the rest of the way?

Suttonstracke · 01/10/2022 07:44

Google maps is looking more promising now, saying delay rather than no service. May just risk going to station and then yes, explore buses if there’s an issue. There’s no time pressure luckily. Thanks all!

I can only see minor delays between Richmond and Turnham Green, no closure. I'd assume the district line is OK but would just build on a bit of extra time

sakura06 · 01/10/2022 07:48

TfL just says minor delays from Richmond on the District Line. Maybe due to the train station and underground station being in the same place? Good luck with your journey!

Suttonstracke · 01/10/2022 07:50

Thanks - on the alerts it did say no service at all 20 mins ago but it seems to have improved!

Panic over. 🤣

You wouldn't go via Turnham Green other than because you were using the Tube.

I think bus to Barnes Bridge and train from there is a good call if other operators are running (change trains at Clapham Junction if no through trains)

Or if it's all looking a bit rocky, then get buses - I'll just look up best routes

Or if all else fails get an Uber

SquirmOfEels · 01/10/2022 07:54

x-post - glad you're sorted

Suttonstracke · 01/10/2022 07:55

@SquirmOfEels thank you so much - the alerts on TFL app have changed though and it doesn’t seem so disastrous so may just attempt district line?

OP posts:
Clymene · 01/10/2022 07:55

Good luck!

If you get turfed out at Turnham Green, walk up to Chiswick High Road and catch the 110 bus, which will take you to Richmond.

BoopBoopBoDiddley · 01/10/2022 08:00

The tubes are running, just less trains than usual

I think she's going the other way round "I need to get from Richmond to Vauxhall today"

SquirmOfEels · 01/10/2022 08:23

BTW, if rail/tube options all go tits up, then get the 337 bus (from The Quadrant in Richmond) to Clapham Junction station and change there to 87 (or 77 or 156) to Vauxhall

ShortOfShorts · 01/10/2022 08:48

On rail strike days, the District Line doesn’t operate from Turnham Green to Richmond early morning or in the evening. So there wasn’t any service earlier as planned, and now there is a limited one.

Augend23 · 01/10/2022 08:51

Have you checked Citymapper? It's my go to for big cities and seems to think the district line is functioning.
