I'm sat here in pj's and Oodie with blanket and still freezing. DH and DD are not cold at all. DH said if the heating went on he'd be too hot yet I can feel the cold through my whole body.

Poor you. Do you have a chill do you think, or do you always feel the cold?

I am ill right now and am shivering with cold 🥶

Beezknees · 30/09/2022 22:26

Some people seem to be colder than others. Someone I work with is always freezing and was wearing tights in August! I don't seem to feel the cold as much as other people, I had bare arms yesterday.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 30/09/2022 22:50

I know at work when someone has a fan on it really bothers me. The air con was on yesterday and I was cold for ages. I just feel like I must be going mad I'm that cold. I just said I was warming up and DH said 'I'm boiling now' 😂. I have been aching a bit and feeling rough but I was starting to feel better. God it's annoying me

I feel the cold - any other year, I'd have the heating on. I've invested in an oodie, and sitting here in it over PJs and under a blanket and a couple of cats, I'm starting to feel very warm, so to me, you sound ill unless your room is very cold. Today, WFH, I had on vest, thermal top, fleecy leggings, cashmere top, joggers and a hoodie ... and gloves. But I wasn't really cold.

Wolfiefan · 30/09/2022 22:54

I suffer. Fibromyalgia side effect? Thin pair of socks and big fluffy pair on top. Thermal vest helps. I have been known to put a hat on. 🤦‍♀️ wrist warmers also a godsend. I love the turtle doves ones.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 30/09/2022 22:56

Hmm I have finally started to warm up. Only after I got up to make a cup of tea which is weird. I'm wondering if I need to be wearing thermals. Today I had on joggers, a linen top and a hoodie and wasn't freezing but wasn't that warm either. That was wfh

I might get some. They might help as it seems to be my hands getting so cold

Hmm, it’s an old classic that gets blamed for lots of things but is it possible that it’s thyroid related?

here are some symptoms of underactive thyroid-

Common symptoms include:

tiredness
being sensitive to cold
weight gain
constipation
depression
slow movements and thoughts
muscle aches and weakness
muscle cramps
dry and scaly skin
brittle hair and nails
loss of libido (sex drive)
pain, numbness and a tingling sensation in the hand and fingers (carpal tunnel syndrome)
irregular periods or heavy periods

If you have any of the above you might want to get tested for underactive thyroid. It can happen over years so you might only have one or two of these

18 is cold if you’re sitting down! 20-21 I would say is comfortable

VeridicalVagabond · 30/09/2022 23:07

I'm always cold too, I feel your pain. I'm walking around in fleece PJ's, fluffy slippers, wrapped in a Sherpa throw and still freezing to the bone - and my husband is sitting there in shorts and a t-shirt with an iced drink complaining that it's too hot. I shouldn't have married a Norwegian. Daughter is taking after him too, just shorts and a vest, no shoes on a stone kitchen floor!! I'm doomed to be cold surrounded by people with their own climate forever.

HammerMyhome · 30/09/2022 23:07

18 I’d be freezing. Men and women have different thermostatic temperatures- and in my experience kids are never cold!

It's crazily annoying isn't it!

I feel better now you have both said that. Been tested for thyroid and stuff so sure it's not that. In bed now and feel quite toasty. There is a woman at work who is always wearing short sleeves and fit flops in the depths of winter and always has a fan on lol

This. Genetically, women feel the cold much more than men.

Paranoidandroidmarvin · 01/10/2022 06:22

I am always cold and my husband not. So I bought a heated blanket. It is really cheap to run. So I’m all snug and my husband isn’t boiling. Problem solved.

Dimsumbun · 01/10/2022 07:55

You are like my DH, yesterday we did put the heating on as it was 8 degrees outside and he was cold. DS was sat in shorts and a t. Shirt I was in joggers and a t.shirt and the house was 18, we were both melting.

We have bought him boot slippers lined with fake fur and I am going to knit him some wrist and ankle warmers. We are are going to get him some fleece pyjamas. He is a very calm human and has an incredibly slow resting heartbeat, always has. He jokes I’m like some tiny dormouse and I have always had quite a fast heartbeat. Anyone medical care to comment, would that affect your internal temp.

We are all slim and both DH and DS do a lot of sport, my joint issues mean I walk and cycle only now.
