Shingles.

I listened to a Jeremy Vine radio programme ages ago where they were discussing the covid jab and there was a debate about how shingles/chicken pox lies dormant in your body after you have had it and there is a direct link to the covid jab that causes the shingles to come back. When health care professionals were asked about this they did not deny it but attempted to by slightly changing the subject matter. When taxed they could not give a clear answer.

Now we hear there will be another spike this winter and people are being strongly advised to get boosters and 'flu jabs.
I see they are talking about shingles again on the TV with pop up ads advising people to see their GP if they get the rash and the pain and I wonder now how much of all that is actually linked directly to getting the jab.
Hope this makes sense.

Just my experience but I got shingles after my first Covid vaccine. Was surprised how painful it was and the tiredness that came with it.

This is what I meant ! I have had shingles when I was younger and remember the pain very well. I would not like to get it again

I had shingles after my Moderna booster, fortunately it was quite mild but still not very pleasant

I’ve had shingles multiple times none of which have been since the pandemic

I have just been googling about this subject and this post came up: I had ocular shingles with complications 11 months ago; my dd 17 has had herpetic stomatitis 9 months ago and now my dh has shingles. I am very interested in whether this is linked or vaccination or Covid as have anecdotally been told ocular shingles had been linked to Covid-19. A clear link would make me weirdly less fearful that we all had a severe underlying illness waiting to be discovered …

I hadn't heard about this but Shingles seems to have been on the rise in the last decade or so, in our area anyway. I believe it used to be extremely rare in children but both my DC and several friends have had it at primary school. Our GP was theorising that there was a very "shingley" chickenpox strain about.
