I had this a couple of years ago. Very lumpy breasts, pain and a small lump. It turned out to be a cyst. They gave me the option of having it drained but said if I left it it should reduce on it's own. I chose to leave it and it did reduce. It come back every so often but it's all good.

What would have been the procedure if they drained it? Would you be put to sleep? How long did the pain last

The pain of the lump was a constant ache and then very sore if pressed on.
They said they would drain it with a large needle. No need to be put to sleep, just done with an injection to numb the area first. I declined. Sounds sill but I have a dog who has a cyst and each time it have been drained it just comes back worse. My parents had the same with their pets when I was a kid. So I decided to leave it and if it didnt reduce then to go back.
They did tell me part of the reason I have lumpy breasts is because I have lots of little cysts under the surface.
