FuckinHooray · 29/09/2022 12:43

By some miracle I managed to get 2 tickets for the Arctic Monkeys concert in London next year. I want to book a hotel Now, the concert is at the Emirates stadium. I’ve been to London hundreds of times but never really ventured from the city centre, can anyone recommend a hotel nearby? Thanks :)

There's a Premier Inn by Finsbury Park tube which wold be walking distance.

FuckinHooray · 29/09/2022 13:08

How did you get tickets, didn't think they were being released until tomorrow?

dancemom · 29/09/2022 13:14

You got a presale code if you preordered the album

Puppylucky · 29/09/2022 13:15

The Argyll apart hotel is about 10 minutes walk away - we have stayed there before and it's nice.

HappyHamsters · 29/09/2022 13:15

Premier inn Islington has rooms, pretty expensive thiugh for the Satirday night, you get the 73 bus door to door.

FuckinHooray · 29/09/2022 13:19

Yeah I pre-ordered the album earlier this week and got a presale code, was on a holding page for 20 minutes just constantly refreshing! I have seen them before when I was 17 and they performed in Manchester with Amy Winehouse, I got knocked out by a flying bottle about half way through their act 🤣. Hoping this time I make it all the way through!

ok thank you I’ll have a look at the other hotels suggested. Thank you!

I’d look around Islington Green and get the bus straight there up the Holloway Rd 10mins depending on traffic at Highbury Corner. There’s one every 3mins or something. It’s great there with many pubs and restaurants. Premier Inn and Hilton there plus quite a lot of Airbnbs. Even the Doubletree on Pentonville Rd.

HappyHamsters · 29/09/2022 14:50

If youre coming by train which station would you arrive at. There are a choice of PI and travelodges at Euston and Kings X which is an easy bus route to Highbury.

Spidey66 · 29/09/2022 15:51

Oh the Premier Inn at Finsbury Park's not open yet.....Ive never actually stayed there just been past it on the train. I thought it was finished before the pandemic!!!

Inmyownlittlecorner · 29/09/2022 16:12

There’s a (I think) premiere inn at Archway. You’d just get the 43, 271 or 263 to the stadium.

Eggcitement · 29/09/2022 20:19

There is a travel lodge at Finsbury Park as well. I'd avoid the hotels between FP and Manor House stations though if they aren't chains. There are some dodgy ones.

Angel or Kings Cross are good places to look otherwise. Or see what's on air bnb.

FuckinHooray · 29/09/2022 20:34

Thank you everyone! I’ve booked the premier inn at archway, it says it’s a 30 minute walk, is it a really dodgy area or will the walk be ok?

I'd recommend the hub by Premier Inn Kings Cross. It's right next to Coal Drops Yard which is a great area with its own security 24/7. We regularly walk to the Emirates from nearby and it beats taking a packed tube.

It will be fine! No where on a main road in London is dangerous at night. There will be a million people around. You'll have a great night.

Partey · 29/09/2022 20:48

There’s a premier inn at Angel Islington which I stay in for football at Arsenal, it’s about a half hour walk but plenty of pubs on the way and tube an option too

southlondoner02 · 29/09/2022 21:14

You could just get the bus down Holloway Rd from Archway if you don't want to walk. You can get off at Holloway tube which is really close. But it's not unsafe to walk

Badger1970 · 29/09/2022 21:17

We stayed at the London Angel Hilton in Islington when we went to see Muse, it was about a 20 walk to the stadium and a good location for a weekend break.

N4ish · 29/09/2022 21:17

It's quite a walk from Arsenal to Archway, you'd be better off looking at night buses. There's a Travelodge at Finsbury Park which would be closer if you were able to swap bookings.

Everydaywheniwakeup · 29/09/2022 21:21

After the Killers at the Emirates, we couldn't get a night bus for love nor money, whole area was heaving, so make sure you wear shoes you can walk in!

FourExcellentQuestions · 30/09/2022 17:23

Yeah they normally close Holloway Road and the busses will be busy. The walk is totally fine, there is a slightly shorter route down Liverpool road rather thank walking down Holloway Road/Upper street. I'd happily walk it at that time but upper street will be busier and have some options for a drink in the way home if you prefer.

Spidey66 · 01/10/2022 11:31

It's about 1.5 to 2 miles. It's doable and IMO safe enough as it's all main road and will by busy, even if it wasn't for the concert. But there will be loads of buses, 43 and 271 spring to mind.

It's a really straightforward walk, and the area is not really dodgy. There will be plenty of people around. If I were you I would walk on the way there (from the hotel to to the Emirates) and make a decision then if you want to walk back. If not there are several buses which go direct, you won't have a problem. Be aware that the walk back will be slightly uphill.

Donotgogentle · 01/10/2022 11:40

It’s not a dodgy area. If you can’t get on a bus up Archway road (from outside Holloway Road tube) go in shoes you can walk in.
