Tassimo pod exploding!

I was making myself my morning cup of coffee using my Tassimo machine and the coffee pod exploded in the machine. There are coffee grounds everywhere in the lid part of the machine.

Has this happened to anyone else? How did you go about cleaning out all of the books and crannies? Should I report it to Tassimo?

We reported it as every single decaff pod we used did this, so frustrating!

This happened to us a few times when we had a tassimo. I think if you put the pod in ever so slightly off centre then the hole is punctured in slightly the wrong place and then the coffee grains spill out. Total pain! We would let it dry out and then use a kids paint brush to brush all the coffee out. You have my sympathy!

Sorry, cross post with Huckleberries!

It happens when the pod isn’t properly inserted. We went through a stage where we weren’t quite putting it in right, you soon learn the sound is different so you can stop it before the grains go everywhere. What I do is unplug machine, then take out the removable parts and run the machine under a tap where the mess is.

I'm inserting the pod in the same way that I insert the milk pod (I like a latte so I do 😋) and the milk pod isn't exploding, just the one with the coffee grounds. And it's happened twice with this pack of pods.
Could I have a dodgy batch of pods???

Apologies! I'm only spotting now that my phone autocorrected nooks to books. I really did type nooks.

I think it CAN be a dodgy bathc of pods. I go through phases where it happens a lot and then not for ages. Its a right royal pain in the butt and yes it pretty much only happens with the coffee pods - although that being said it did happen with a hot chocolate one too the other day. Its infuriating. So much cleaning up but I love using it so I continue to put up with it!!!

I have a Dolce Gusto machine so I don't know if this could be relevant to Tassimo but I have got a bad batch of Lidl coffee capsules at the moment.
Most of the water coming out was missing the cup and flooding the worktop. Bits of coffee ground were coming through as well.
Researched what it could be and solved the problem this morning. This particular batch of capsules have been filled with too much air. I pierced the middle of the capsule with a needle in the middle to let the air out and then put it in the machine. This sorted this particular issue. Also I cleaned the metal dispenser with the pin that is supplied by Dolce Gusto.
Could this be the problem with your capsules? Do they look too full of air?
