I've swallowed an aqua bead.

Am I going to die?

No, I doubt that obviously but, will it make me ill? Have you ever swallowed anything stupid?

I'd dropped it into my coffee while transferring some into a larger container. Didn't realise until I'd swallowed-probably a lot to do with being half asleep.

Are they just small smooth plastic balls? If so, it will pass straight through without a problem. There's nothing to be absorbed or to obstruct or to get tangled in to cause an obstruction.

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 29/09/2022 04:29

Still a shock though! No different to orange pips etc. I've eaten plenty of those!

gaymeanshappy · 29/09/2022 04:46

Thank you. I honestly felt it in my mouth and could have stopped but swallowing a gulp of coffee at the time and just sort of, did it anyway.... I only bought them because one of my favourite glasses has a hole in it (yes really) and I didn't want to throw it away. The bloody things get everywhere, I didn't realise!

I have swallowed something stupid and did it on Saturday.

I'm currently decorating the hallway and was screwing in some screws. Was screwing one into the wall and was holding the other between my lips, well I was until i breathed in and swallowed the bigger.

Hopefully it's passed through me!! 😩

HelpMeGetThrough · 29/09/2022 04:55

breathed in and swallowed the bigger.

Bloody auto correct!!!

! What size screw? I feel a bit better about what I did now!

It was about an inch long. I'm surprised it went down.

I was hoping you'd say one of those tiny ones! Do you think It's passed through you?

I don't know if it has. I've been feeling fine all week, so hopefully no harm done.

ittakes2 · 29/09/2022 05:48

a Screw has a pointy end and surely is at risk of damaging your intestines? I would go to a&e for an X-ray.

FamSender · 29/09/2022 06:06

Definitely get an Xray for the screw swallowing. Even if causing no damage, if it is stick somewhere, you won't know and it could be super dangerous if say you need an MRI in future (or needed to travel through airport security 😉)

Bordernotboarder · 29/09/2022 06:13

Oh my goodness, the person with the screw-please get checked out. My son swallowed a glass bead and I took him to hospital. The doctor wasn’t concerned at all as it was smooth and it passed out in 24 hours. He said if it had been pointy like Lego, it could be dangerous and would have had to be investigated.
op - you’ll be fine with a tiny aqua bead.

gaymeanshappy · 29/09/2022 06:21

I did think this too about the screwswallower!I almost added that to my question about whether she felt it had passed through her already, but then didn't want to worry her!

I've swallowed a fair few tongue bars when I had it pierced, no harm done, but I'd say a screw is worse!
Thank you@Bordernotboarder

It's tempting to to a magnet to the toilet with me next time I go.

mountainsunsets · 29/09/2022 07:51

Christ, if you've genuinely swallowed a screw you need to go to hospital @HelpMeGetThrough - that could puncture your intestines and cause some serious internal damage 😬

Recycledblonde · 29/09/2022 07:58

When we were having renovations done, I found a half inch screw in my 18 month old sons' poo. I had no idea he's swallowed it, he's 25 now so it obviously didn't do any damage.

Floydthebarber · 29/09/2022 08:02

Dd2 ate those, they come out (so did the crayons she munched!). They are coated with Bitrex so I don't know how she managed it.

clowerina · 29/09/2022 08:06

OP i would check with 111, if it's an aquabead they are dissolvable in water / wet conditions, so who knows what chemicals are in there. It would be worth checking. Probably as they are designed for kids it wouldn't necessarily be bad. Maybe they are swallow safe just in case. Don't want to worry you.

HandsomeJack · 29/09/2022 08:12

Does anyone remember when Cadbury hot chocolate had the swivel top and you had to punch out a large plastic bit to use the pour section?
I've swallowed that bit too many times.
