Back to work and on track for no sleep

First day in office tomorrow after 2.5 years (Covid then maternity leave). It feels like a big deal, I need to be up early for a long commute and busy day.

Just this once, I wanted to get some sleep. For context I have done all baby wake ups for a year as BF, DH helping 50% of the time when eldest wakes, which is rare.

Tonight DH came home at midnight from a work event and woke eldest DS. I thought he'd gone to settle him but 5 mins later eldest is properly crying and about to wake the baby. DH is nowhere to be found.

After 30 mins on the floor next to DS' bed waiting for him to fall asleep again I got fed up and went to find DH asleep on the sofa. He was near impossible to wake up. I asked him to sleep next to DS so I can finally go to bed (he can fall asleep anywhere, I can't).

I went back up thinking he was following me. Nope he's nowhere to be found again so probably fell asleep again.

I'm beyond frustrated. Currently waiting for DS to be in a deep sleep so I can escape but I'm now wide awake and anxious, so my chances of getting back to sleep before the baby wakes up are slim. My alarm is then set for 5.30am. I could cry. I got about 35 minutes sleep before DH came home and robbed me of a night sleep.

I hope you made it to work OP! Life with little ones and a job absolutely sucks.

Thank you, I made it! Hopefully the 10 minute kip I managed on the way will get me through!
