Where to buy artwork?

Looking for wall art - any recommendations? I had a look through desenio but didn’t like anything. It’s a narrow space and I want something with a wow factor to transform the space.

An art shop

MinnieMountain · 27/09/2022 15:25

Is there a part of Britain that you like? You could see if any artists from there sell online.

TheArtfulStodger · 27/09/2022 15:58

Depends what you want. Support artists by searching for art on Instagram. Many of us post ours there to advertise.

Artfinder has affordable pieces from real artists

Thank you all! I like this but it’s out of stock. I genuinely don’t know if there are specific websites or accounts to follow to find similar things?

It’s a digital screen print, could I possibly print something similar at home or would that look naff?

Support your local galleries, Google what independent galleries you have locally, go and visit look at what they have, sign up for their mailing lists etc.

Look for art fairs or art festivals locally and go for a browse around them.

If you give a region people might recommend something.

Try Instagram too, there are lots of art based hastags that will show you a good variety. Try something like your county and artist or art, or if you like certain styles or media try searching hashtags for them too.

My husband is an artist, it is really difficult to get your work seen.

KatherineofGaunt · 03/10/2022 20:33

Try www.artweb.com/ Lots of different artists and you can search by different things, like colour, medium, subject etc.

Email the artist direct who did the print

Have a go yourself?

Skidamarinkadinkadink · 03/10/2022 20:35

I’ve used King and McGaw before, they mainly do prints - but they’re really lovely.

PooWeeBum · 03/10/2022 20:36

I have bought a few pieces from here, www.kingandmcgaw.com/collections

CollyWibbleWobbles · 03/10/2022 20:37

Craft fairs and FB groups

We have some beautiful textured modern pictures which I gave to my mum. They cost 50p each from the bargain bin at the graduate art show at our local university 😂

We buy a lot from the local contemporary gallery. They do great posters. Framing is usually £40+ but makes so much difference and we almost always have a colour mount so they really pop. Realistically I probably only buy one new print or poster every year or so now, but I love everything I've bought and they will keep travelling with me for life. Completely transformative for a home.

Also when thinking at scale don't rule out fabric hangings - I have an gorgeous crewel rug from Anthropologie that was cheap on ebay. I stitched it to rings and it hangs from a dowel. Possibly my favourite thing in the house (not counting kids or animals).

That's Kristjana S Williams, isn't it? Have you had a look on her website? www.kristjanaswilliams.com/ If it's not hers then the style is very similar.
If I'm looking for inspiration, I look at tagged posts of artists I like on Insta to see what people who like them also like

33goingon64 · 03/10/2022 23:49

Look out for an art fair near you. Local artists and might be a nice thing to do even if you don't buy.

What's your budget?

cannaethink · 04/10/2022 20:50

I’ve got some from Etsy, but also craft fairs. In the run up to Christmas there’s loads on.

PinkArt · 04/10/2022 21:28

@200degrees 200degrees I discovered her at the online Art Car Boot fair during lockdown. It might be worth looking out for the next one - poss November - as there are loads of artists at it

ApolloandDaphne · 04/10/2022 21:33

If you let us know what price point you are looking at we can maybe help?
