Raging toothache - too much salt?

Please help if anyone is awake. I've woke up suddenly with agonising tooth ache and the only thing that will touch it is rinsing with salt water. Nothing else will touch it. But I need to do it literally every few minutes (5 min interval max)

Is this okay? Will this much salt do me any harm (spitting it out but must be getting absorbed. I'm feeling sick but guessing that's tiredness and pain.

I used neat gin to reduce toothache. Just used a wad of cotton wool and pressed onto tooth.

Any other spirit would work

@Oddbutnotodd no alcohol in the house apart from Baileys I'm afraid! Thanks for responding though - feeling a bit lonely here tonight!

I don't know how I'm going to drive half an hour to the dentist if I've got to swill with salt water every five minutes! Confused

Have you got a soluble aspirin? Put it onto the gum of the affected tooth and let it dissolve.

@urbanbuddha oooh! I have! I took ibuprofen two hours ago (didn't touch it) so will give that a try in a couple of hours time. Thanks!
