I don't really know why I'm posting this. I suppose I feel a bit disturbed. I have NC'd as I don't want this linked to my normal posts.
I was looking through Instagram on my tea break and looking at reels. If you're not familiar with Instagram these are just random videos. Nothing serious, just a mindless scroll.
I saw one video where it showed a random dog tied to a tree. I decided to click on it as it seemed a bit weird and on the account page it only had this one video on it.. nothing else.
The video had a few hundred likes. I clicked on who had liked it there were loads of similar accounts.
One of the accounts with a weird name implying it was for dog lovers had liked it. This page had loads of dogs videos all of dogs who had obviously been used for dog fighting. All the language used wasn't English and I don't know what country it was.
I couldn't believe I had somehow gone from cute and funny videos to something so upsetting so quickly with a few clicks.
I suspect the account got around having all these videos by using hashtags like #rescued dog but it was obvious that wasn't the case and all these accounts were related to dog fighting. I quickly reported the image and shut the app in a horrified panic.
I just think it's scary how innocent social media can turn very dark very quickly. As a dog lover I feel so upset by what I've seen.
Just feeling fed up so I suppose I just wanted to post a warning to others to be careful ☹️
