Odd places you were fascinated by

Does anyone have some weird random place they were always fascinated by as a kid and still remember?

I don't know why but I sometimes randomly think of a place called Egg Stores in Stoke Newington. Maybe it's the odd name and the fact that it was never open when I passed and I didn't know what it was. (It's a supermarket).

And then whenever I think of that place I then think of the House of Aksler, which was at the bus stop down the road, and I did actually go in that one. It was a shop full of anything and everything, everything stacked in boxes on the shelves, and the shop was soo long, went back so far, to me as a kid. And such a grand name for such a strange shop. I think it was supposed to be a toy shop.

I probably have more but those are two I randomly thought about this weekend.

We had a shop in our small town that everyone called the goat shop because although it sold sweets, postcards etc it stank of goats as the owner kept some in the backyard. I was always worried going there as a child because I thought the goats might appear round the shelves and bite me! You don't get that sort of eccentricity anymore. I think the building is now a trendy microbrewery.
