Wisdom tooth removal

Having one out soon, lower one and impacted. I have been suffering with pain in my jaw on that side, sharp pains sometimes and other times an ache. it's in one very specific spot which is where the facial artery crosses the mandible. Also my facial artery throbs and feels raised, maybe muscle swelling underneath it the doctor said? ( i have had it checked out with a scan and all looks normal) aaaanyway. Has anyone ever experienced this and found that after recovery, their pain went away? I am so scared it will make things worse. I just want some hope!

My son had this a couple of years ago.
All 4 wisdom teeth removed.

Before you go into have it done take two high dose anti inflammatory pills, 30 minutes before you have it done, to take the edge off.

For some reason, pineapple juice is good, don't know why, it just aids healing and inflammation.

Follow the advice to the letter regarding after care to avoid complications.

Take painkillers before the pain returns so every 3.5 hours as that will keep the pain away.

Don't allow the pain pick up.

Hopefully you will feel relief soon.

Just saw that you have it out.
It definitely would be sore for a week.

But sore and dry socket are two different things.

The blackness is the blood clot which is good and healthy healing.

Thank you @billy1966 I just feel so ill with it. Really nauseous, cold and fatigued. Wondering if I have a virus at the same time, or it's something to do with the tooth! I have read that if I had dry socket I would know about it, so I am going to say it's not that!

Sending hugs. Take the painkillers. Hope it improves.

Just been to my dentist for a check up. He said it wasn't dry socket but was going to treat it as though it was. Packed it with cloves, tastes gross! Said if it still feels bad in a few days it'll be antibiotics. I'm sure no one cares about this update lol but someone who goes through this in the future might be interested!

Nooo don't be put off! my experience really hasn't been too bad, I'm probably just being dramatic. I think if I had it done again I'd be far more relaxed about it all.

Ok ok. I won't. Have an appointment in a couple of weeks for a check up. I'll mention it 🤣

We care about updates@MoggyMittens23........ Yuck, cloves are disgusting you poor thing😕 I was paranoid about the dry socket thing too when I had a couple of broken teeth out a few months ago having read it's agony but I was also shocked at how painful just normal healing was for a full week after but when all said and done it is like breaking a bone when you think about that root coming out of your jaw. Hope your healed soon💐

Thank you @Mossstitch I had to go back today to have it repacked (you are right, it is gross!) but dentist happy with how it looks and basically said what you said, that's it's a major thing and it will take time. No infection at present so no need for antibiotics, which is always a good thing.
