Smartphone for ten year old

Hi! I'd like to get my ten year old ds a smartphone mainly for safety. So we'd want to make and receive calls. What brands have you bought for your kids please? We've been let down by one on Amazon which turned out to be absolute rubbish and broke after less than 24 hours.

We got a Motorola one about £150. I think it's the 22 model? Working well. I've used Motorola a few times and think they're a good phone - the ones I've had have been more.exoensive but I think I only notice the difference in the camera.

DD (11) just got a new iPhone 11 to go to secondary school. Before that she had my old iPhone cast offs (last one was an 8).

Just got DS 11 and iPhone SE 2022 model. It has the processor of a 13 but half the price.
