Are you in one of the areas where natural habitats will be fucked? (Probably)

The government has released a list of new 'investment areas' where planning permission regulations will be watered down and protection for animals and local endangered wildlife will be potentially bulldozed through and concreted over.

The RSBP are raging twitter.com/rspbengland/status/1573366815568580613?s=21&t=kYCu8d6q5Z2I4v8JJIkQSA as are the National Trust twitter.com/nationaltrust/status/1573604451847380994?s=21&t=kYCu8d6q5Z2I4v8JJIkQSA and the Wildlife Trusts twitter.com/wildlifetrusts/status/1572964712475758592?s=21&t=kYCu8d6q5Z2I4v8JJIkQSA

Defra say that it's all fine, and that wildlife will be protected, but do you trust the wildlife charities, or the govt that allows our beaches and rivers to be filled with sewage and which is overturning the ban on foie gras and fur imports?

The RSBP asks you to contact your MP if you are unhappy with the govt plans to remove Habitat Regulations.

They seem to have forgotten that we're a nation of animal lovers.

It's due to severe human overpopulation, all done deliberately. Consider the four million Chinese due to arrive here soon - where will they all live?

This country will be a concrete jungle in 40 years. A hell hole of high rises and Victorian style slums a la Hong Kong. People clawing each others eyes our for food. Forced to work for scrip. A nightmare vision.

We are already unable to support our existing population via farming. If we were ever blockaded in a war we'd all be sitting ducks.

Absolute insanity.

noblegiraffe · 25/09/2022 08:04

No one expects 4 million Chinese to arrive here soon, maybe less than a tenth of that.

So the government is planning to 'reduce the burden' of environmental assessments and habitat and species regulations, but are pretending that this won't mean less protection for the animals and the environment.

The RSPB are hyprocrits. They seem to forget that in our local area, they were left a substantial amount of acreage specifically for a wildlife habitat in a ladies will.

They sold half of it for housing.

puffylovett · 25/09/2022 08:44

So I’m answer to your question, no I don’t trust any of them!

Bit melodramatic for a Sunday morning.

This is a completely ridiculous and borderline racist post.

AnneLovesGilbert · 25/09/2022 08:46

Where I live in white on the map, so I don’t think so?

SpinningAlwaysSadly · 25/09/2022 08:53

It’s insane. I have no further words at the moment.

BamBamBilla · 25/09/2022 09:01

I expected nothing less than those with Jaboc Rees Mogg as environmental secretary.

Scrowy · 25/09/2022 09:08

Those of us who live and work in rural and farming communities generally don't have a lot of time for the three organisations linked in the OP.

The RSPB in particular have become increasingly misguided in their attempts to 'unmanage' habitats which has rendered huge swathes of land in the area around me mostly uninhabitable by most species due to being taken over by thick bracken.

The neighbouring farmland and moorland which is 'managed' by farmers and gamekeepers is teeming with wildlife.

so in answer to your question I don't trust the government OR the wildlife organisations you have linked on this topic.

Georgeskitchen · 25/09/2022 10:14

Which natural habitat was ducked to build your house OP?

Not Sure if "Absolute Insanity" is a closing statement or you signing off with a nom de plume. The latter makes much more sense.

noblegiraffe · 25/09/2022 11:44

The neighbouring farmland and moorland which is 'managed' by farmers and gamekeepers is teeming with wildlife.

And you’d rather that the land was concreted over and built on regardless of what wildlife is teeming on it than agree with the RSBP that removing habitat rules is not a positive move?

I’m assuming that when mine was built the appropriate environment and habitat regulations were followed. The ones the govt wants to get rid of.
