Could this be post viral?

Both my dc had a high fever approx 5 weeks ago and I don’t think they’ve been right since, but their symptoms have been very vague and not the same.

DS(6) had awful stomach pain with his fever, ended up in A&E with suspected appendicitis but was inflamed glands in his tummy apparently. I was told it was caused by a non specific viral illness. Since then he’s had an awful on/off chesty cough, itchy skin, earaches and today a painful hip/thigh.

DS(5) didn’t have such a bad fever and had no other cold type symptoms. He had a nosebleed the day before which he has never had before. But since then he has had dark circles round his eyes, tummy pain, nausea, loss of appetite and achy legs.

I’m driving myself mad with worry. Can’t stop googling and some of the illnesses are terrifying. They generally get ill quite a bit, if it’s going round they get it, but never ‘off’ for this long.

Has anyone’s dc had anything similar? How long did it last? Have a gp appt Monday morning for ds1 because of the earaches but tempted to make one for ds2 too.

Step away from google, it won’t do you any good. raise question at your GP appointment on Monday (you won’t make an appointment for your other son before then anyway)

Why do they seem to get ill often: sleep/diet/hand hygiene? See what you can do re that

Thanks for your reply @BlooberryBiskits. I know, I fall into the Google trap every since time and convince myself of awful things.

I really don’t know why they seem to pick everything up. I’d say they’re very good on hand hygiene, diet could be better as they eat no veg apart from what I manage to blend/hide. They do take a very good multivitamin though. It’s just exhausting.
