Please help me get on top of my health

Over a couple of years I lost 72kg, still very overweight at 117kg but was obviously much healthier and looked it and was working on the rest.

the last year has been pretty hard and the last 4m I’ve been homeless either in hostels, budget hotels or briefly air bnbs so I’ve lived off fast food, sugar, caffeine and salty shit, drink to much alcohol and I look awful for it.

I haven’t actually put any weight on as I walk a lot and that seems to have counteracted the shit I’ve put in my body but I’m bloated, my skin looks grey and awful, my hair is shit, my posture is shit suddenly, I just look REALLY fucking unhealthy and I’m incredibly down about it.

I finally have somewhere to live in a shared flat so access to a kitchen but I need to feel better quickly, yet I cannot get my head around what I need to do. Which I know is ridiculous but I’m just coming off the adrenaline of the last few months and now feel like I’m wading through treacle

I hope it goes well in your new home. Start gently so if you buy something like a pie boil up some carrots and peas ( they can go in the same pan) and potatoes. Have some fruit and cut out sugary drinks

Thank you x

i think if forgotten about gentle simple starts and feel like I need to do an immediate overhaul!

Start by drinking more water and less fizzy drinks and alcohol.

Hope it's going well.

Thank you, I’m working on slowly changing how I eat and also being a bit kinder to myself and I feel like it’s helping. Appreciate you checking in 🙂

Great that it's going well. Simple steps, just persevere. Find small happiness in life every day. Good luck!

First of all HUGE kudos to you OP what an utterly incredible achievment you have done to loose 72kg (11 stone!!!) and perhaps even more importantly you've managed to not gain it back during a horrifically stressfull year. I do hope that you are able to give yourself a massive pat on the back and that you can reflect on what you have acheived and by ther weightloss alone how much better your health already is.
So as for getting on top of your health I think that it's really about adjustments going forward, be kind to your self, try to ensure you sleep enough and that you are sleeping well. Try to exercise / continue to be active to get the endorphins and Dopamine going. Try to eat a varied diet with a third veg / salad, a third protein and a third carbs per serving. Try to have one carb free meal a day (I find something like greek yoghurt with berries for breakfast works for me). Protein is your friend especially in feeling sated and reducing hunger, but don't exclude good complex carbs.
The other advice about drinking more water, reducing alcohol is all excellent, and apparently reducing caffine can help. Finally the other thing for weight loss in women is strength training, much more so than cardio, and it makes you feel great! Best of luck OP I think you are on an incredible journey.
