Prescribed due to anxiety and sleepless nights/nightmares .

Awake enough to type but head feels foggy as hell, no coordination or balance and feel off the planet . Managed to shower and now bakC lying in bed, OK to still be shattered? I took tablet at 7.30 last night. But has also missed a couple of days of antidepressants (mirtazapine) which can also cause sleepiness … took one last night after two missed nights plus the zopiclone .

OK to still be feeling off the planet after 19 odd hours?

Mirtazapine is dosage dependent - 10-15 makes sleepy. 30-40mg less so.
Again zopiclone has more effect the higher the dose but you can become used to it over weeks and it loses its effect.

It’s 45mg of mirtazapine I’m on, 7.5 of zopiclone . GP did say that, that mirtazapine works less for sleepiness at higher dose and some of the drowsiness I feel with that was probably placebo .

Perhaps missing the mirtazapine for 2 nights has given you these side effects now you've taken it. I wouldn't think it was Zooiclone. I took z for insomnia but didn't get any side effects much but think it was 3 mg.

I used to take 7.5mg zopiclone and never felt like that the next day, was told not to take after midnight though otherwise you can feel that way after, but since you took yours at 7.30 I'd say it was the combination with the antidepressant too

Thistlelass · 25/09/2022 03:22

Mirtazapine is known to help induce sleep so if you are taking both ... Zopiclone has no effect on me but it seems highly likely I am bipolar. You likely only have a few nights supply of them anyway.

Summerhillsquare · 25/09/2022 03:30

Both of those totally zombified me.

Mirtazapine hangover lasts forever. Zopiclone IME shouldn't carry over but I've never taken it at that strength - half that is the max for me. Are you sure they've actually prescribed you the proper dosage for women? With many of the z drugs, it's half that proper for men and that wasn't being pointed out till recently. (Zolpidem - norm male dosage 10mg, women 5mg.)

All that being as it may, taking the two in combination sounds like a really bad idea.

Zopiclone is disgusting stuff, the next day I couldn't even sip water due to the nasty rusty taste in my mouth. And yes, I was completely out of it all day.
Ask your doctor about Zolpidem, just as good but less of the hangover effect.

Zopiclone sent me off the planet, I know I did sleep but still felt like I hadn't, could hardly function the next day, was prescribed after a traumatic event because I hadn't slept for 4 days.
But, I am susceptible to anything that induces sleep like cert antihistamines or amitriptyline.

Zop never makes me feel groggy the next day but mirtazipine did.

bloody awful for me mirtazipine, never made me sleep either, and it gave me restless legs.

Zop turns my mind off and completely relaxes me, I just got anxious with mirt

id say the two drugs together have made you feel like you have op
