Are Evri or Ebay responsible?

Hermes/Evri man knocked this morning and as I opened the door, he was taking a photo of a parcel on the doorstep. Then he said "oh this isn't yours, I'll be back later with yours." I didn't think anymore of it.

But now I've had a notification from EBay to say I've received my item.

EBay say to speak to Evri, Evri have "evidence" of it being delivered...who do I take up the argument with?

I’d say Evri since their courier actually turned up

ProlificInProfanity · 23/09/2022 17:09

Evri.
The driver is falsely claiming it’s been delivered. Have you got a ring doorbell that could show he took it away again?
He could be making off with dozens of parcels each week.
It could of course just be a genuine error.

Evri.

But can you ask eBay to investigate for fraud? Prob not that easy is it!

roses2 · 23/09/2022 17:12

Ebay - that's who you paid.

IcedOatLatte · 23/09/2022 17:12

Evri , it's nothing to do with ebay

I highly doubt that the driver is stealing parcels by turning up at houses, ringing the bell then going away on a regular basis 😀

hedgehogscrossing · 23/09/2022 17:12

If you order with a shop online then your contract is with them , not the courier, so the shop have to deal with the issue. Im not sure if Ebay count as the same because obviously there are lots of different sellers. `I think it does though.

I would contact the Ebay seller and ask them to either re send the item if possible or refund.

balalake · 23/09/2022 17:30

Your contract is with Ebay as mentioned.

I would love to see a law that required any online retailer to state who the delivery company was, before you make any payment. Hermes would lose a lot of business.

daffodilandtulip · 23/09/2022 17:37

Yes agreed ... or at least the option to choose which one they send your parcel with.

I'm so annoyed that I didn't click that his photo would look like it was delivered to me.

Responsibility with eBay, they contract the courier (Evri), your commercial relationship is with the retailer. It's then up to them to investigate with the courier.

I first thought these were names for a new baby

It's everything to do with eBay as they chose to contract the delivery to Evri.

eBay are the marketplace.

Your purchase is from the seller. Claim it as not received

The seller has a contract with Evri
Evris proof of delivery is the couriers photo on your doorstop & the co-ordinates tagged.
You also have a conversation with the delivery driver

The buyer claims against Evri, presents what you have told them and the buyer gets compensated by Evri (or the driver actually delivers your item)
You get refunded via eBay from the seller (unless you receive it in the meantime

@Yogagrandmum 😂

The eBay shop aren't having any of it. They've got the photo as "proof it was delivered" and that's the end of it. So annoyed.

Ebay don't choose which couriers their sellers use. I understand that if you don't use ebay you wouldn't know that but it's the individual choice of each seller

amylou8 · 24/09/2022 11:10

You will lose a INR (item not received) request with eBay if tracking shows as delivered, unless you have evidence to contrary. Your dispute is with Evri (good luck with that) or your payment provider.
